Ahman to that, speaking as a part time cleric of mask at least the rogue side of the business did ok but over half the URs I'm going to be in the market for are going to be dedicated to getting my cleric build back to zero so to speak.

Agreed it does feel like a bad year to be a cleric...

It's going to be a challenging year for Clerics for sure. Our Cleric is still recovering and we're doing our best to find ways to get him close to previous healing levels.

Thor's Hammer has bothered me since it was finalized. Here's a radical fix that will probably stir-up some ire but...

1) Reduce the Dex requirement or make it a Dex and Str requirement.
2) Make it usable by Clerics, Fighters, and Paladins only.

But to actually even pick Thor’s up... there should be a Meta-stat - called - “Worthiness” that has to meet a minimum, and is a combination of a few other stats.

There should be like 3 different combinations to get you there....

Just a random floatie that’s been bobbing around my brain for a while now....

:P ;) B)

“Worthiness” is a Marvel construct. Nothing in the Norse mythology says anything about that.

So some think the problem is all mine. The Hammer was never meant for Clerics, and the Kilt nerfing should have happened sooner. It’s a good thing, actually, because wrongs have been righted and us uppity Clerics are out back in our place.

And let’s snap their glasses in half while we’re at it.

Any one of the things that happened this cycle is fine. But put them all together... I swear to you all, I’m trying to see the silver lining. So far, bupkis. YMMV

The fact remains, the Kilt doesn’t treat all characters equally. If it read “-1 FORT AND CHOOSE: +6 CON, or +4 DEX +2 CON, or + 4 STR +2 CON” then maybe people would see it. Or maybe not. Because that’s what it DOES say, just in code. But that’s a little off topic, too.

This is a free country. Anyone is allowed to say whatever they want. There are just some people I would prefer stop addressing me.

Understood.

I bid thee condolences and sympathy, for whatever consolation that may provide, and know that I have utmost respect for your involvement and engagement in the discussions!

You aren’t one of them

Didn’t think I was, it I wanted to offer a few kind words nonetheless!

Every hammer prior to 2018 (including throwing hammers) were usable by Barbarian, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, and Ranger.

Some tried to point that out last year as reason for why something other than a Hammer should be used as the basis for a legendary ranged weapon usable by all, like maybe a sling.

But hammers were just too thematic, and the idea of splitting the cool hammer legendary and the cool ranged legendary usable by all into two separate legendaries didn't gain any traction either.

Just want to publicly apologize to Rob. I probably misinterpreted something he said and lost my cool. There are reasons this subject feels very personal to me, and I have to remember that to almost everyone else, this is “just a game.”

To me, Thor’s is like a tribute token for my father, so I get emotional when I feel it’s threatened somehow. (He’s still around but 81, so there’s that.)

But that’s my personal issue. I still think it’s broken and would like to have it fixed somehow.

Brad no worries at all man. I actually really appreciate your tenacity on these subjects. We are cut from the same mold. I'm also sorry if I raised your blood pressure a bit. And glad to hear your pops is still alive and well. I wish you the best on the Hammer. I would like to see Clerics have an easier time wielding it.

If I had it my way, I'd be happy to drop the DEX requirement if we also dropped a bunch of classes who in my opinion shouldn't be able to use Thor's Hammer. Namely: Wizards, Rogue, Ranger, Druid, Bard, and Monk. I might have missed some.

I remember, Fiddy. It's a shame because trying to make it work for all classes has made it inherently difficult for the Cleric, who should be one of it's main users and is thematically one of the best fits, to work into their build. Whereas, high dex build classes that are thematically odd like Rogue and Ranger have an easy time wielding it.

What if the Hammer's requirement was instead:
Requires a STR + DEX of 32 or greater

That would actually make the two Kilts equal for getting it (and the new STR kilt worse), but would open up more options for builds... Or would 32 be too low?

If you want clerics to have easier access, make that a combined Dex + wisdom score

Thor's hammer gets way stronger if the DEX requirement is dropped because then you can stack STR. So I don't like that.

I would say just give Cleric 2 more starting DEX on their class card.
Classes Played: Barbarian (21 times), Monk (11), Cleric (9), Fighter (9), Rogue (9), Dwarf Fighter (7), Ranger (6), Paladin (5), Druid (5), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2).

I actually have no problem with this. Of course I carry Thor's hammer...because I can. But it feels weird as a wizard when I use it.

The downside of changing it now is the high cost to transmute it in first place. If you drop classes from using it, do you let them trade it for another legendary?

I really can't see True Dungeon deciding to drop classes from the Hammer at this point. If they do try to do some sort of fix for the Hammer for Clerics, I don't think this will be it.
