TOPIC: Tokens without upgrades at higher rarity/tier.

Tokens without upgrades at higher rarity/tier. 5 years 7 months ago #13

So I think this is a great exercise to brainstorm new tokens.

Managing your expectation there are only 40 Rare and 20 or so Ultra Rare tokens printed every year. There are over 21 slots (well 22 if you count slot less) and over 15 years of Common/Uncommon. So if you want an upgrade for every possible token you will need over 300 tokens. Printing only 40-50 is a year would take over 6 years of just doing those.

I would leave it as a brainstorming exercise and try to find the "best" tokens that don't have one you would like to see.

This is exactly where my thoughts are at. After writing the first post, my brain was pretty fried and I forgot to provide context or the reason for topic in the first place.

The Hood of Elvenkind does not have a numerically easy upgrade. The "Allows Sneak Attack without 1 round delay" effect cannot be upgraded further by itself. There have been some great suggestions already in the Ultra Rare Suggestions thread about combining this effect with other different effects.

I would love to see an upgraded Hood of Elvenkind. I just would not know where to start on which secondary effect to put on it.

But it can also give you 1/3 of a level

True, but I'm not sure set bonus is part of Phrash's consideration on whether or not a token has an improved counterpart in the next rarity level.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Maybe the question I would focus on would be:
Since the Charming Ring already exists, are we likely going to see another Ultra Rare ring that provides +Fort saves.

I would guess not.
