Agree Mike on these two.

Brad Mortensen wrote: I will agree that:
Every class has unique abilities.
Every class has $100 URs that favor them.
Every class has $300 set bonuses that favor them.
Every class has a $3000 Eldritch set bonus that fav... oh, scratch that. That’s just two of the top three already-overpowered classes.

I agree with Brad on this. It doesn't seem like any other class has a comparable advantage to the ranger/druid power on the eldritched set. But IMO that's also ok given the scope of the set.

I think someone recently did an analysis and the Druid isn't anywhere near the top of the overpowered list, it was in the middle. If I recall correctly, the Wizards were at the top of the list, followed by the Ranger and Monk.

You might be referring to the max damage output thread, which is not optimized general builds, but builds specifically optimized for damage.

Also, we are hijacking this thread.

That is what I was referring to, since damage dealing is so important. In combat the end goal is getting points of damage on the monster.

Are we hijacking the thread, or keeping it alive? ;)

So - it turns out that there is a 3 piece set in TD that conveys +1 level, and has scaled further bonuses for 4 piece and 5 piece variants: the Might Set.

I might suggest we simply adopt similar bonuses to the 4 and 5 piece might set, or if not at least keep in mind what might be reasonable for 4 and 5 piece bonuses.

A proposed 4 piece bonus might be: +2 damage on melee, ranged, and spell.

A proposed 5 piece bonus might be: A further +2 damage on melee, ranged, and spell (for a total of +4).

If people don't like having an identical bonus bonus we could move it around - but I think we should keep that as a reference point for what a 4th and 5th piece incremental bonus might look like.

The Mithral set also has 4 and 6 piece bonuses. The 4 piece is 10 points of RD to undead, and the 6 piece is insti-kill dragons on a natural 20 with 1/4 of the damage wheel. Again - not super powerful abilities.

For the something extra for Rangers and Druids on 4, I'd propose:

Woodland Cross Training:

Druids - Gain the Favored Enemy bonus (+2 damage on physical attacks vs. undead)

Rangers - Can use polymorph potions

I especially like the Ranger ability here, as:

a. It breathes a bit more life into Shirt of the Fae.
b. Imagine the fun Chimera Rangers we could have with different polymorph potions in each puck:

Cobra Bear!

A Giant Spider with the head of a Shark!

I would agree with Mike, but then we’d both be wrong. :)

And I’m sure he’d say the same about me.

I've agreed with Brad on plenty of things, we're just a bit out of synch on this one. Diversity of opinion is a good thing though. :)

I like all of these propositions. Though I suspect the cross training could be confusing.

Oh, lol, okay

I respect Mike. He’s been around much longer than I, and he’s a pillar. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don’t. Everyone gets frustrated now and then, including me.

Brad, I respect you also, you definitely have a passion for the game and want what's right for it.
