TOPIC: 2019 Volunteer & Other Special Token Suggestions

This thread is to propose 2019 New Volunteer, Completion, & Dungeon Only Tokens.

I have a suspicion that the volunteer tokens may follow the pattern of the Ioun Stones, which would mean that perhaps a Quicksilver Charm (+1 Dex) and Greater Quicksilver Charm (+2 Dex) is in our future.

I suspect you are right, though I am not sure that is the greatest plan, as we will then have +1 and +2 Con, then +1 and +2 Saves.

I imagine it is quite tough to design a good reward token that is useful for all classes though, so those may be the best choices.

Maybe a powerful bead or shin slot item, while those are relatively empty, to truly reward volunteers?

I am profoundly un-excited about the probable upcoming dex/con charms. I would love to see a caster focused vol item +1/+2 focus or the like.

Or as I suggested last year if you really wanted to drive volunteers a +1/+2 treasure bead (and to preempt, I'm gonna guess Mike, there are a lot more volunteers/cons now then in previous years so I think there would be enough to satisfy the community)

Maybe you're right, I'd still guess there are a LOT more people that would want a Treasure Enhancing Volunteer Token then there would be Volunteer Tokens. I'd want 10 for my group alone.

Honestly if the demand is still there after a year of vol TE's nothing says we could do a second year of the same thing as long as they were both in a one of slot.

Year 1 Vol Bead of treasure +1/+2
Year 2 If demand still high, Vol Bead of Gread +1/+2

The second year beads would almost all hit the market as long they couldn't be equipped in parallel to the year 1s.

We already know that it is planned that there will be a +2 treasure Ioun Stone this year. I strongly suggest against releasing a volunteer token that also increases treasure at the same time.

Just guessing, but it probably has to do with widening the gap between the casual player and the veteran even further.

3 to 19 is bad enough, 3 to 21 (guaranteed to come) is worse, 3 to 23 is simply worse still.

Yep, that was my thinking. We know the gap is going to continue to grow. But accelerating that growth seems like a bad idea to me.

I would argue that we are already so far down that road it almost doesn't matter if we go a little further. Also so long as we send word out in advance anyone can volunteer so it that sense its a path to a TE even if you don't have the cash for PYPs.


Alternatively if our concern is raising the cap what about something like a special trade good that counts as units towards a charm of Avarice.
