The NPC's in this room were STELLAR! I went through the room 3 times. There was enough time for the Drow to engage the party in this room. Most were very sarcastic/sassy to us in a fun way.

I thought demanding GP was funny and a great first interaction with the players. I also wish I could have convinced a group to refuse to pay the bribe, to see what the drow would do.

And yes, ALL the NPCs this year were excellent!

I loved that this happened. Every year in coaching a large number of new groups ask what the gold is for, and every year I tell them all, transmute program if you have a lot, player merchants if you have a little, or sometimes you might even come across an NPC who can be bribed. Last time it happened was 2013 with the rumor merchant, the time before that was the imp in 2010 if memory serves. Either way it was nice to see it make a return.

I asked what would happen if we didnt pay after we were done the puzzle and the drow said she would still have lead us into the elevator but she would have been the one who sabotaged it (she also said drow were notorious lairs though so who knows)

That may be in character, but it was only consistent to this one drow and it came off as the player enriching herself at the expense of new players.

As to the off-topic subject, I like kids and I don't mind an extra set of hands at the combat table. There was one this year though that started to test my patience. He was pretty obviously a forumite's kid, though, so I guess that's as much details as I'll be supplying.

All of the Drow asked for 20gp to show you the way to the elevator. As this was a NPC I very seriously doubt that the person was able to keep the gold that they collected. This was part of the script to my understanding.

I can confirm this was part of the script.

Maybe so, but out of the three I encountered on runs, only one did it that I can recall.

It was something that was supposed to be done on each run but done briefly - if you were prepared with the bribe, the Drow showed you onto the elevator and said it was broken and needed repaired. If you didn't have it or weren't quick, you still were shown onto the elevator only to find the Drow sabotaged it. Just a slight storyline deviation. I liked the attempt to make gold have a use for players who don't transmute.
