The first dungeon I ever ran, our fighter was carrying the torch and fell into the abyss and died. When "Death" escorted him out he took the torch too because it was lost in the abyss. We went through the last 4 or 5 rooms with no light but items or whatever was in the rooms. By the end, I was the only survivor and faced the last room alone in the semi-dark with no torch to examine things closely. Great memory. It was hard and frustrating, but I loved it.

Great story! I remember how much fun it was with just the one torch, where the entire group would have to stay together to see what was going on, and whatever was beyond the torch range was a mystery. It was certainly more difficult, but created a great atmosphere. With all the current lighting it's a lot easier to see (which is great), but doesn't have as much of a feeling of going through a gloomy dungeon. On the other hand, with some of the amazing effects and animatronics we have now, I'm glad there's sufficient light to see and appreciate them. :)

I just love the part of my memory, when we were in the room the whole 12 minutes in completed darkness and we had to figure out the sub-clue by feeling along wall for the shaped of a letter of what I think was the next part of the main-clue. Since it was nightmare, if you failed to solve correctly, then it meant disaster, who response incorrectly. Which included cruse, down to 1 HP, or I think permanent number one HP or even combination of the worst option available. So after a while player tend to not answer at all and take pull-damage instead when times were up on top of the damage individual player. Now if a player answer incorrectly, then the whole group were affected by set damage. But it really a massacre TPK-style in nightmare mode because tradition there will be one or two players left to reach the 7th room, either not at all survivors, but ghosts. If it there were a name a good beer brand for gamers, then it will be ghost or phantoms elixir because by the times the gamer has enough of it, then s/he will not function in reality or function as well in their current form as to lose control by having lack of there of. lol

P.S. Now that is an after thought, isn't. Then Party light is really light beer goers.lol

Light Sources
The only light sources permitted in the dungeon are the ones provided by TD. Players may not use personal devices for illumination.

Last year, when I got my token orders, I also received TD-themed LED keychain flashlights. They display the TD name and are significantly brighter. These came from TD themselves; am I not allowed to use them? If not, why the hell did I get them?

Nope. Because they're fun.

I have used them last year and the year before. I asked before and pointed out they came from TD themselves. The DMs thinking, like mine and Kaledor's, is that they are TD-provided.

I also only use them sparingly since they require pressing a button on the side and are brighter. I also make sure to ONLY aim down as they can disrupt others ability to see and function.

I tend to only use it if someone dropped a token or something. I have pretty good sight. But if others have difficulty seeing and could really use them, I think they should allow it as the simplest and least disruptive solution.

Note: The lights wear out and require 2 CR1216 batteries. There is one hiding under the button. These are slightly different than the provided batteries, but will work as a replacement.
