TOPIC: Thank you all for the support!

Re: Thank you all for the support! 8 years 11 months ago #13

it is strange that one dungeon each year seems to get chosen for being more popular.

I know there are a lot that only go once.

Maybe its a function of it being the part 1. or maybe the name. Hard to say.

Does this vary by day? I'd assume "part 1" will be more popular on Thursday than "part 2"...

The Part 1 Dungeon does seem to be the most in demand each year. Which makes sense, a lot of people that are playing just one Dungeon likely don't want to jump right into Part 2.

Jeff, I suspect eliminating the Nightmare dedicated runs is helping the fast sellout. I think a lot of those 660 tickets left at this point last year were for Nightmare runs. It will be interesting to see if there a lot of people not able to get Nightmare runs because those slots are eliminated.

I may be in that boat. Team Synergy didn't get all the runs we tried for. One was the Underdark Nightmare group I was in. We finally got a slot for it, but in a time that conflicted with my volunteer schedule.

Hoping to find a nightmare underdark slot Friday AM on my own.

On the other hand, we kept hearing that many people paid no attention to the nightmare designation on those slots.

The "problem" of course is that the plot is linear and people want to do them "in order" even though, as we all know, it doesn't really make a difference.

Maybe next year the runs could be designed so there is no alleged order. There are two enemies in the forest that need to be defeated, in opposite directions. Your mission is to kill either one, go back to town to rest, then go kill the other.

I'm sure that would even out the demand.

I remember we made that same suggestion last year - to not link them as part 1 and part 2 to reduce the number of people only getting one Dungeon and avoiding part 2. But - perhaps de-linking them would result in a reduction in overall demand. There may be some percentage of people that would normally only do one of the Dungeons, but signed up for both because don't want an incomplete experience.

I suspect we'll even out the demand soon, as we near a complete sell-out for both Dungeons. :)

I think naming the event may make a difference as well. With a large percentage of purchases being casual players between the two names:

Into the Underdark
Sable Gauntlet

Causal players are likely to pick Into the Underdark. If Sable Gauntlet had been renamed to Drow Gauntlet or Drow House Challenge I think name would be an influence.

Not indicating an order will also help.

At the end of day one there are only 99 out of 813 runs with openings

Only 9 are Into The Underdark. None with more than one opening.

It was a tougher go to get the runs I wanted than ever before. I'll have to settle for hardcore rather than nightmare on one of my runs. I did get into a grind which is a first for me at GenCon

All in all a decent day.
