Would be so funny if you lost the test and pulled a random 2015 UR and got a special again...

Given their status as PYP this year I see no harm in gambling. At worst you swap a Special for another valid token. At best you swap it for a Ring.

Not that it really matters but both of mine were pulled in 2013 so are the older Special tokens (only matters to collectors).
You don't have to outrun the monster, just the guy next to you - The buddy system.

Cranston's Character Generator for iDevices or Character Generator for Android

Amorgen's Excellent Excel Character Generator

Have you checked the Token DataBase ?

One advantage to announcing the effects in advance is that players can plan their builds.

If things aren't announced until later, then some players will be scrambling to change their builds at the last minute. Which can lead to more complications during coaching time.

As a DM who fills out a fair number of party cards, I would rather have fewer disruptions and swap outs during the coaching time.

what I am really enjoying, is we have no idea what is in the dungeons. Nobody has been complaining and asking. (i like not knowing)

The AoW has always been revealed hasn't it? It would be hard to build characters if you didn't know what it did.

For the others I understand what you are saying. I have no preference on this. It is unlikely I will turn in a UR Special as I don't have one (I traded mine for something I did want).

the first year it wasnt (TR) that is when we got oak necklace or arpy amulet

The Eldritch Runestone effect often is not announced in advance either:

2012 Dark Stain immunity (no one even knew what Dark Stain was until the event)

2013 Shock retribution damage or immunity to surprise and disease

2014 Immunity to shock or poison

I imagine that party of the reason is so that it doesn't telegraph what is in the dungeon.

And the UR Special effect commonly isn't announced in advance either.

Similar to a game of Simon, with six anvils that a sound and color associated with them. You had to copy increasingly longer strings, I believe until 6 total sounds.
