TOPIC: No Nightmare/Hardocore runs listed

I just noticed that there are no Nightmare / Hardcore runs listed on the GENCON events.

I guess you have to try to purchase the whole run to make sure it's Nightmare?

Yeah saw that too. That would be my guess. It removes the issues of having people show up for NM that are not prepared for it. So now you either get everyone to agree to Nightmare or you buy out a slot. I don't run NM with my group. I don't have the tokens to equip 10 people for NM, but I could equip 2 or 3 folks for a NM run. Therefore I don't know if this is a good or bad and will leave the debate up to those that run NM.

no dedicated slots. Too many people booked it with no tokens/little tokens. Just made it easier. So buy all 10 spots..or try to convince everyone

Two years ago we didn't get all the slots, missed one. The guy didn't want to do nightmare. Kind of a bummer for the rest of the group. We even offered him tokens to use for his character. We really felt like it was a waste of time. I rather just purchase Nightmare tickets and if I get one person that doesn't have the tokens we can spot them.

I agree.... No dedicated nightmare means I'm not doing nightmare. It sucks.

I suspect you can find or make a group here easy enough.
Most runs were being converted to normal anyway.

I don't see why everyone gets so intimidated by Hardcore/Nightmare. Well, at least Puzzle version, that is.

When my friends who introduced me to the awesomeness that is TD back in 2005 we ran Hardcore (no NM back then yet) with little to no Tokens. And, the Tokens we did have were only C/UC/R's.

Yes, I know power creep has set in and Jeff has made the monsters much stronger in Hardcore/NM mode since 2005. But, if you have 8-10 people that are good problem solvers and work well together then H/NM is not as scary as most people think.

Keep in mind I am referring only to Puzzle mode.

I'm really hoping my group can get a full run of each dungeon so we can do both on hardcore.

Why hardcore? Go all the way and do Nightmare... more fun and risk!

My group found the several years of nightmare dungeons to be too difficult and extremely frustrating, and in fact a number of members of our group quit over the last few years because of nightmare. That's why we are only doing two runs this year. Hardcore last year on the other hand last year was very enjoyable, right in our sweet spot for difficulty.

My group isn't like most of the ones on the forums. Other than me, nobody in my group collects or knows the tokens, or visits the forums, or really gives True Dungeon any thought at all except when we're playing. They really are casual players, they enjoy it but if I weren't coordinating it I don't think any of them would continue playing TD.

Team Synergy is planning on doing up to 6 dedicated NM runs this year. Keep your eyes open after the 18th. Filling slots will be first come first served.

You do, however, have one of the best puzzle solvers I've ever seen.
