In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

Okay, this is in the wrong section because we don't have a "2014 Adventuring Groups Form Here" forum yet (and won't for several months) but I wanted to toss this idea out, for folks to contemplate during down time.

I love running Nightmare. I love the thrill of potential death. I love defeating the dungeon with less-then-fully-kitted parties. And I really love the comraderie of small groups.

For 2014 I want to put together a 5-man Nightmare run. Maybe multiple runs.

- Players would opt-in at the price of 2 tickets, and everyone would have a single "retainer" armband (for synergy tokens, treasure bonuses, whatever)

- Groups would have to be pre-formed on the forums, and carefully pre-select classes. Bard is a must. Other team members as needed to cover melee/magic/special classes. I'm thinking 1 Wizard, 1 Cleric or Druid, 2 Fighter types (Paladin & Ranger?)

- Going into this, people would have to understand that we might not be able to physically complete certain tasks. There are often puzzles designed for 10 players, and with only 5 we might have to pass on some things.

If so, we suck it up, princesses. Bring extra healing to cover the Push damage if needed.

- Ideally, I'd like us to be able to meet (online or in person) for a strategy session prior to the run, so we can discuss builds, marching order, and how to defeat certain known elements of the dungeon (particularly if we've done multiple runs prior to the 5-man, and know we'll have trouble with a specific monster or puzzle.)

- I don't mean to be clique-y, but I would prefer to do this with players I have played with before. I love tons of the people I've met thru TD, but I know that I play better with some than others... and some people I enjoy running with don't enjoy running with each other. When it comes down to it, I want to assemble a team which can be a smooth-running machine. Not a bunch of First-Come, First Served interested parties.

That said, we'll also need to juggle complicated schedules with volunteer shifts/other dungeon runs/other GenCon events, so even if we could assemble a Dream Team of players, we might not be able to make the times work out. I am open to bringing in people we've never played with before, as long as we can work as a team and bring many unique talents to the table.

Is anyone else interested in planning some 5-man Nightmare runs in 2014?

I know a bard who would love to do a 5 man nightmare run or runs, especially with the guild master of ... well you know--don't want to out you. If you'll have me I would love to challenge history again.

Oh my God... that sounds like fun. My wife and I would love to, just not sure if we have what it takes to keep up.

While it won't be as cool as "Trio'ing" the dungeon on Nightmare, I'm sure our exploits will be worthy of your Bardic talents, Widseth!

And Chris, I'm not sure what you mean by "have what it takes to keep up" but in my experience, attitude is more important than token load-out.

I would rather go through the dungeon with players who are eager & play well together but haven't got a full set of relics ("Purpled out" is pretty important though, since everyone has to pack the punch of 2 players).

In a similar vein, I would rather go through AND FAIL the dungeon with people who have fun together, than succeed with perfect Min-Maxing and a lot of shouting & bickering over rulings or teammates.

Well we do have fun with it. We ran with Team Yeti this year, my Wife was the new Team Yeti mascot. Even with that, we do play well with others... lol.

Im not sure of our tokens... definitely not purped out, although I do have a nice Wizard build going (close to purpled out, just looking for a couple tokens to flush it out), and a pretty decent rare/purple fighter build.

That being said we are newbies still... one year experience, but we did love every bit of it and plan on volunteering next year.

My brother(Zankas) and I would be interested. I have a decently geared Paladin, he a decently geared Barbarian. We are both working to expand our token collections to be more flexible in the classes we can gear out. We are both fairly new to TD though and have done mostly just random runs, very few runs with the TD community that exists here.

I'm interested. I can play fully kitted fighter type (Paladin or Fighter). My brother can play fully kitted out Cleric.

Rafiq

P.S. Lazlo, you meant any class minus the Paladin, right?
