In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

The staff said they had run out of the Ioun Stone basically Thursday/Friday because of all the nightmare runs. If what TD staff said was true, they ran out of tokens EXTREMELY early. Now we did walk away with the green Ioun stone, but we were trying to get a full set of the Completion tokens. Printing a lot more might not solve the problem, but printing more might delay the problem till later. Past Thursday or Friday at least. Because we are now all going to be fighting each other tooth and nail for Thursday slots.

Wait, they ran out Saturday? We were the last run (Sunday) I thought they said they 'just' ran out... So this is a far larger problem than I thought?

That's what some of the TD staff "said." When the actual red ioun stone ran out officially we'd need a td staffer of some kind to say. But our Saturday run was SOL. The TD volunteers we talked too said that they were gone and had been gone because of all the nightmare upgrade runs. My group plans to do both hard core runs next year on Thursday just to make sure we can grab the reds.

Our Nightmare run on Saturday at 8 PM (this was a in the book Nightmare run, not a choose to do Nightmare run) got them red Ioun stone. But the Hardcore run at 10:30 did not.

Was your run a pre-scheduled Nightmare run?

We ran Hardcore on Saturday at 8:40 I think, and they said they ran out of the Red Ioun Stones just as our group was up, the group before us got them. It must have been extremely hard for Jeff to guess how many groups would run Hardcore and Nightmare, since this is the first year both were run.

Still. If you have to choose, err on the side of more REDS and less Greens. Worse case scenario is you run out of greens and give them reds (which makes more people happy), as opposed to running out of reds and give them greens (which still makes people feel shorted).

I worked the XP desk in the morning on Saturday. There were a bunch of reds still in the container, but I know for sure that there were 2 hardcore runs for combat and at least 1 for puzzle that morning.

It must have been in the afternoon at some point, my Nightmare run on Saturday night didn't have reds for Golembane...

And to be honest, the red Ioun stone was by far the best of the four. I'm not surprised people pushed up the difficulty on that side more than the other.

Sounds like a good idea to me. :D

Though, the problem might not be as bad as we fear. I noticed one of the ladies at the XP desk was giving out 2 RED tokens as a reward for Nightmare. So, that may have been a bit of confusion that led to an early shortage. (Though, I don't know how long that malpractice was going on.)

But that also means that TD knew it was long out of the correct completion tokens when we were in the ready room, and could easily have told us one of the two rewards for the higher difficulty was NOT available ... And depending on how you feel about xp, possibly the one reward that mattered, and that all the extra damage (and therefore healing) was literally for nothing... Not cool.
