In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Experience/Level tokens

Experience/Level tokens 10 years 9 months ago #1

There should be a level token for each level. You could hand out level 1 tokens at the check in desk for anyone that wanted them and then make higher level tokens transmutable from lower level tokens.

It is easy to verify online outside of the hectic con enviroment.

One could argue that you level up during your true dungeon, but, like in D&D ,you have to wait for a convenient end of a session before you train up.

you could even add specials to the tokens based on what you transmute it with.(Nothing crazy but kinda fun stuff).

Why? Not saying there shouldn't but you explained how it could be done but not why.

Could be used to prove level in choosing characters( I know this has been beat to death in other threads).

If it gave some benefit(+1 stat, Stun monster with your greatness, makes you irrestible to Fey).

There are a lot of things in life that just are and asking why destroys the magic.

Give collectors fits because it would be difficult to get a complete set.

The only level token you would need to resolve the disputes, if any, over choosing characters would be the Level 3 token. I am sure that most players level 3 and up are usually in a group that has already assigned characters, so the token would probably be moot.

I've always been surprised the 5th level token doesn't "do" anything. A leveling token could be a fun mini game but I think we would need to figure out what they do before it would be worth it which might be tricky as player level has traditionally not had any in game effect by design.

Nothing stops you from selling/trading/lending/gifting tokens, but player level benefits are meant to be non-transferable. Unless each token were "soul bound" I could see trouble, and that would be trouble in itself.

^^^ Exactly this.
I lost my level 5 token. =[
Who's to say that someone else isn't parading around as a Lord or Lady now in my place? Haha

But yeah, too easy to have others running around with levels they didn't earn if it was merely on a token.

I think if we are going to ask Jeff and company to work on something besides all the stuff they usually do (create wonderful TD and tokens for us) then we better have a good why. As mentioned before having a token does nothing to prove you are that level as tokens can flow like water.

Again not saying it shouldn't be done just we do need to have a good reason.
