In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: 2 more newbie questions...

2 more newbie questions... 10 years 9 months ago #1

thanks in advance....these may be ho-hum for the expert, but this is my first td game this time around for my gf and I...been wanting to play for MANY years......

1) 4th level cards vs 1s level players.
Do I get a 4th level card, as a beginning player??? The examples lead me to believe that I get a 4th level card at 1st level, until I get enough xp to get to 5th......am I correct???

2) multi-classing.....
another poster talked briefly about the benefits of multi-classing....in his instance, he loved multi-classing to a bard for a skill they get... My question is.....HUH??? please explain....and thanks again for helping out a couple of newbies(who may be addicts soon) ;)

1. The default character level is 4. There are tokens which will raise it to 5.

2. Artifacts are the only scenario where that can happen.

James -- no worries, keep the questions coming.

1) Out of game level and experience actually have nothing to do with in game level. Out of game level is more about benefits and rewards you get. While in game everyone is 4th level, unless you have certain tokens that allow you to level up to 5th level. Specifically, 3 Might Pieces (Orb, Scepter, Crown, Girdle, and Boots), or Medallion of Heroism, or Charm of Heroism.

Out of game level, the experience you get from running TD give you certain benefits. Here is a link that explains those:

Rewards

2) There is no multi-classing in TD. Not sure what you were reading but it must have been talking about something else. So don't worry about it.

Keep the questions coming.

DarkAngel -- forgot about the artifact corner cases.

Yeah James don't worry about those.

if you get certain tokens, you can be a 5th level character this year(Medallion of heroisum)

there are only two character levels(as of right now) 4th and 5th

player levels (you will be level 1) are different..at level 6 you get an extra token per run..level 7..i nifty badge holder(i think)
there are other things too(i just cant remember)

I saw the "multiclassing" post, too. I think it was just short-hand for trying out some of the other classes' skill checks and whatnot in the training room.

I to was confused by the multiclassing comment (post by Toran in "who plays what????" thread).

From context I would guess that the items for the Bard skill test (runes?) are sometimes in plain view in the dungeon and that even if you don't have a Bard you can know that something in that area is important because the rune or whatever is present.

This is all just a guess, I am a new player as well. My 1 run last year I was too busy trying to figure out what I was doing to pay any attention to our Bard (who I think was also new and so may have been missing things anyway)

I think he meant that if you have been a bard in the past and learned the bardic symbols, if one comes up in the dungeon you would be able to recognize it even if you aren't playing a bard.

I haven't been following that thread but that sounds dead on Cormroc. You can see the Wizard, Druid, and Bard memory cards hanging in a room and you know to get ready for a fight.

Just the wizard tests, actually. The DMs carry the bard, cleric, and druid tests.

But what does that gain you?
Also your next post seems to contradict that. If the DM is carrying the bard test what will you see that you can recognize?
