In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

So we've been under water, dealt extreme cold, and have a jet pack. From these I can only assume Jeff is priming us for an outer space adventure. Just for fun what would your TD outer space rules be (feel free to suggest tokens real or imagined to get around them)?

Off the hop you would need a way to breath in space and something to protect you from deadly cosmic rays.

It's not new, but Ioun Stone Iridescent Spindle would be perfect for surviving in the vacuum of space.

Movement in space is certainly tricky. I would say you're hindered.
Its also super cold.

So free action and immune to cold would be handy. Clearly you need the spindle so you don't have to worry about that pesky lack of air.

And just for more kicks,
Space travel isn't new to DnD. SpellJammer was all about it and there was an ADnD module Expedition to the Barrier Peaks that was about exploring a crashed space ship.

So who knows... its certainly in the realm of possibility. :silly:

Don't forget about the pressure of Deep Space. You'd need something to prevent you from imploding.

I didn't think there was any pressure in the vacuum of space. Wouldn't one be more likely to explode?

yeah, no pressure. Lack of pressure does very bad things to us.

Dealing with a space adventure would certainly take some wild magic.

1. Extreme cold and extreme heat!

If you are in direct line of sight to the local star and are in the habitable zone you are talking blister the skin off of your body heat and freeze your eyeballs cold if you are in shadow. Heck you could have both at the same time. If you are half in shadow and half in direct sunlight you would freeze and boil at the same time.

2. Vacuum

You would need pressure on your body. At a minimum around 5 pounds per square inch just to keep your fluids from boiling.

3. Microgravity

I doubt even boot of free action would help with the problems that one would encounter. The boomstick could be used for both propulsion and damage.

4. Oxygen

The Ioun stone would cover this one without a problem.
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

Spelljammer dealt with all of those issues. By either ignoring them or bending the rules of physics severely. Its fantasy after all...
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir
