In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

What ring are you building that requires 70 MORE monster bits?

Probably for the 7 Golden Fleece that he is going to need to make 7 Rings of Heroism.
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

That is a very cool idea but I still think the curiosity shop would be much more popular. The armor and weapons may be stacked with newer players unless there is a decent UR chance. Most folks with lots of tokens don't need more weapons or armor. But a really neat idea for themed merchants.

Yes, scratch the curiosity shop idea. Maybe all boxes have the monster bits, but each box is specialized as to the other kind of items found in it. Though if one of the boxes is heavy on healing that would be pretty popular too.

if you are after healing..i will trade yo healing for your treasure pull tokens

regardless of which ring (2015+lvl / Khing's / 2014 legendary ring of protection Jeff mentioned during this years development) a lot of monster bits are going to be needed in the near future.

Ahhhh I read it as 1 ring not multiple. That makes more sense. If it is Golden Fleeces he wants I know several people sitting on several already myself included.

Oh,I am all about the monster bits as well. Whatever strategy maximizes those is what I will be doing.

The fact is that as long-term players, the people on the forums are going to jump at the chance to get monster bits because we all do token transmutation. Similarly, most of the token collectors don't need additional healing because they can trade for it or buy it (in some fashion).

The real question is whether non-forumites will go for the non-monster-bit boxes. Will noobs look for more rare items or healing? Will one-timers?

Further, does this incentivize people to trade for treasure-pull tokens rather than the results of the pull since it could up the chance for monster bits?

So I wonder how long before the monster bits run out? If everyone and their werewolf are pulling from the box that we know favors or maybe even is mostly monster bits. How quickly will the bits go?

I think it would be cool if they do have a shop that is "Jeff's monster scraps emporium" and the person running it would also have a box with some golden fleeces in it. That way when someone comes up and pulls 50 tokens and gets 35 monster bits they could if they were just using those bits, trade them for 3 fleeces and the 30 bits could just be dumped back into the treasure pull box.

I don't know....I stress I don't know. But I don't think everyone and their mother is going to after monster bits (again we don't know how these boxes work). If there is a box that is only monster bits then I would think it would be much easier to get them. I ended up with WAY too many monster bits last year turning most of them into Golden Fleeces because there was not the demand for them. I will definitely attempt to get at least a few sets of them but I don't see the need to get 15 to 20 sets like I did last year. Again I stress we don't know what these boxes will be yet (though we do have a clue) and I don't know what anyone else wants. Just saying that I for one will not spend all my draws (200 to 300) on acquiring monster bits.

I will be working to get 3 sets of the bits, and then maybe another 20ish bits to get at least 2 GF. I always keep a set of bits with that years tokens and have a friend that isn't going to gen con this year that wants one set.

I think due to the fact that some people make 10 of each item they are wanting to stock up on GF so that in 3 years they will have the 20 GF needed to make 10 +level rings and 10 of that years legendary.

Also need to remember that formites do not represent the typical TD player behavior. Even the least hardcore of us are usually more hardcore then the average player. There are lots of folks who just don't care about optimizing treasure pulls or farming monster bits and their going to be pulling from the other boxes if only because they sound fun. Granted with treasure pull items formites are likely still going to pull the same amount of tokens as the larger casual population but I trust Jeff and co to have a good idea of how much treasure their going to need to have on hand.
