In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

They have done both!

Very early on, we had "Tavern Brawls" where players could sign up for certain times, to have a friendly tavern fight (minimal tokens) and see who the best brawlers were.

There was also True Arena for a couple years... a ticketed event where players could fight against eachother, fully tokened up, in a gladiator-style elimination match. There were crowds watching, and prizes for the best fighters.

And the year before last, the bonus room for the Golden Ticket run was a party-vs-party match.

While the group brawl did not go as well as some people had hoped, the earlier tavern brawls and gladiator combats were very popular.

There actually *was* a secret cow room a few years back. I'm not joking.

Yes, Grind this year will be fun!

I wonder if they ever considered some sort of PVP arena for fun or team vs. team rumble. Would be cool if even for fun.

True Brawl and especially True Arena were really cool. But I understand why they had to move on from that.

Ugh. That was a mess because the TD rules and tokens aren't designed for mass Player v Player group combats.

Yeah, I was really wishing I'd done a Golden Ticket run on the following year instead of that year. The Group PvP brawl was kind of fun, but I actually didn't realize it was the "special GT event" until the adventure was over, all the way to the end I kept waiting for our GT bonus ;)

That said - I think with some thought the group PvP brawl could be make to work and be fun as an event outside of the Dungeons. If you make up special character cards that take away area effects, and ban or limit the amount of tokens that can be used, it could be a really really fun thing to do in the storyscape. :)

Last year's GT was awesome. The Dalek was incredible, and Raven gave me one of my favorite TD moments ever.

When you weren't going to give us the Mithral ore, so I bought it off of you for two Mithral pieces (literally). It was a great bit of roleplaying, and my fondest TD moment to date.

Shoot - I'd actually forgotten that! Thanks for the reminder :)

Yes, some of the best TD moments are inspired by players and party members who take an idea and have *fun* with it, instead of just gaming by the numbers.

(And you're right Xavon - the Dalek was so cool! Best TD Monster ever! (With the possible exception of Ogre Wil, but I dunno.. his costume was only so-so. I mean, he RP'd a great Ogre, but his "Wil Wheaton" costume wouldn't win any prizes.)

:P

Yep - true that - Raven be fierce awesome!
PROUD MEMBER OF THE DDA! :)
They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

Last year there was a puzzle room that seemed like it was combat (the statue and wheel).
