In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: How Did You Fare Getting Grind Tickets?

How Did You Fare Getting Grind Tickets? 10 years 11 months ago #1

Hi folks! Just wanted to survey how well (or poor) people fared getting Grind tickets during this year's Event Registration.

Did you get what you wanted?

Were you lucky enough to get multiple tickets and/or multiple runs? (It's okay, we won't hate you for being lucky!).

Or were you completely locked out and ended up with no Grind tickets?

It does look like the Grind tickets sold fast, so it would be interesting to see how fast they sold. Did you get a low number in the queue and *still* ended up with no Grind? If so, what was the lowest number where this happened?

This year there are the same number of Grind events as last year with the exact same dates and times:

23 in total (7 Thursday, 7 Friday, 7 Saturday, 2 on Sunday).

Only 22 showed up in the Registration system because presumably one of them was probably chosen for the "ticket lottery". (Similar thing happened last year where one of the slots was taken for the lottery and wasn't viewable in the online system).

Thanks for your feedback!

I ended up 3100 in line and somehow got 2 tickets to the 2-3 Friday Grind, but at the point I got them, all other Grind tickets were completely gone.

I was 525 in the queue and I only 0 tickets in my wishlist. I wanted to make sure I got my runs first. After I was all processed I went back into the mix and was able to get 1 ticket for TG into my cart. I then mistakenly dropped it from the cart. By the time I got back to the front of the line the third time the only tickets available conflicted with events I had. Shortly after that I saw no tickets available.

I was 1528 in line. When I went through, everything was taken. After my list was processed there were three full rounds available, presumably from people who dropped entire rounds!? I grabbed a ticket for myself, and was very happy that I get to do the grind this year!

I was 94 in line, and was fortunate enough to be able to pick up an entire Grind run for Team Synergy.

Poorly. I have one Grind this year, compared to 3-4 for the past couple years.

I was 330 in queue, I had a grind ticket (1) loaded up from every run.

I only managed to get one single ticket.

I did wish to try to play two or three times but I'm ok with only the one shot at it.

The real problem is we need some more grind DM's as good as Incognito. Any chance you could train a couple this year?

I will have two part-time assistant DM's this year.

I will be doing all of the Grind runs. The two assistant DM's will be splitting the Grind runs (so there is a 50/50 chance you will see either of them).

Having/training quality DM's is always a challenge, for both True Grind and True Dungeon. TD has actually had a hard time getting highly-trained DM's so in the past, many of the best DM's were reserved for the "final room" of the main TD dungeons. Looks like this year they are emphasizing training and increasing the incentives for volunteering (with stipends for combat DM's) so hopefully this will improve the quality and quantity of DM's in the future. You heard correctly. I am under Incognito's evil beneficent tutelage this year, learning to maim, hack, and slay 10 players per hour.

We've got another assistant Grind DM in training too. Hopefully both of us will be back next year.. maybe with reinforcements, to bring mayhem and death to even higher numbers of victims.
