In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Trade desk at Gencon

Re: Trade desk at Gencon 11 years 2 months ago #13

Thanks everyone for at least consider it for overseas people. Last year a few collectors helped out but I felt bad as they would have to pay to get them transmuted again. I plan on driving down (like I did last year) so extra baggage fee is not an issue. I just spent $37 on three trades to the US. I sent a total of 51 tokens. That is 72 cents per token. I have so much dwarven steel, planks and other trade items to transmute. Any money I save just goes back into TD anyway. :)

P.S. I remember Raven saying it cost her a small fortune last year for getting transmuted tokens.

I just sent up a token to Canada and was shocked at the prices as well. I couldn't imagine what it would cost to send the two boxes I'm sending in for trade tokens would run. I think the big box is 40lbs and the medium one is around 25-30lbs.

Yes, I just sent off a bunch of trades and was shocked by the increased rates to Canada.

In the US, you mainly heard about the 1 cent increase this year (for first class mail) so I didn't expect rates to go up that much.

Within the US, mailing an envelope with tokens (1.2 or 1.6 oz) cost me $0.86.

Within the US, mailing a package with tokens (3.3 oz) cost me $2.24.

Both of those are about the same as last year.

However, mailing a package to Canada with tokens (2.1 oz) cost me $7.35!

That is several dollars more than last year. An envelope with tokens to Canada might be a bit cheaper but might not survive the journey.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of smaller scale US/Canada token trading is going to take a nosedive because it is much less economical.... :(

Best advice I can give for a single $10 or less token is to put it face down on a sheet of paper and tape it to the center so it can't slide around. Fold that paper into three and tape the sides then stick it in an envelope with a stamp and write "Do not machine" on the outside. Also worth noting tracking doesn't work across the boarder so no point in that either unless your going for a service like fedex. End of the day if it less then $10 I basically just use a stamp rather then first class. At that point even if you have to replace the occasional token you still come out further then paying the extra postage everyone.

I hear the cost of sled dog feed has gone up drastically so the canadian post office has had to raise prices to compensate.

International parcels went up somewhere around 28% on average. US to Canada shipping, though, went up something like 50-100%; it's kind of insane.

I can see it now.... Someone shows up with a gazillion waddling duck toys with Polymeric Decoy tokens glued to their backs.... Oy.

Would that be the TD equivalent of a flash mob?

I know Jeff has a lot on his plate, but I just wanted to bring this back into the discussion in case it gets forgotten or misplaced. Thanks!
