In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Trade desk at Gencon

Trade desk at Gencon 11 years 2 months ago #1

Jeff,

Last year we didn't have a trade desk for trading components into trade items. Is it possible to have this service provided at Gencon this year? I for one would be very happy to see it back (the trade desk) as shipping bulk tokens to the US from Canada is prohibitively expensive. Please, please, please bring it back. Thank you.

And the auction! I never had a chance to participate in one. It could even be a silent auction. Have the items on display throughout the con and players can bid in secret. Winners announced on Sunday. Need a witty name for the auction area, but I'm sure the community could come up with one.

That sounds like a good plan. Arrange ahead of time or they have to produce a passport showing they came from out of country. It wouldn't even have to be part of the storyscape.

Rafiq,

I don't know how many tokens you are talking about transmuting, but once you have a guess on the weight I would check postal rates verses airline baggage rates. Last year we had a Canadian collector do the math, and they figured out that it was actually cheaper to ship the tokens before Gen Con Indy than to bring them on the plane. This collector had the tokens shipped to a USA friend who delivered them at Gen Con Indy. Again, this was a cheaper method than paying the extra baggage fees that airlines now charge.

But much depends on your country and token weight...but it is something to look into.

Once we get closer to Gen Con Indy we will see how many resources we have for the token trading area. We will try to make a special arrangement for overseas collectors.

Speaking as a Canadian I would love something like this. I have a large shoe box full of bagged up trade token materials that would costs about $40 to ship for redemption. It would be great to be able to just bring the tokens with and use that money for another run even if I had to show a passport.

It would probably help with planning if folks sent in their trade requests in advance so the crew knew what and how many tokens people were trading. The trade tokens could even be prepackaged by person to speed things up even more.

Overseas shipping is terrible, especially parcel post seems to have vanished. I lost a $20 sale on eBay because i would have to charge another $45 to ship this little 2-lb box to Brazil. I wouldn't pay it either...

If there isn't an official Trade desk set up, you can always trade with other collectors. I usually have a bunch of extra trade tokens and wouldn't mind trading them for the same tokens that it originally costs to make them. I know an official Trade desk would be best of course. But there are other options.

Good point, Adeya. I was thinking of offering to trade my Planks for only 24 units of commons, so long as they're all Decoys :)
