In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

Seems kinda... useless... this year. Just assuming that there will be lycanthropes and constructs this year and no undead.

Just wondering if the Ranger "favored enemy" rule might get tweaked as a result.

You rangers need to vote each year before gencon to select favored enemies!

Its not really a favored enemy if you get to tweak it to be effective for every module. In that case, why not just ask for a bonus to all damage?

Has there been a year without any undead?

True enough. But perhaps the token was meant to basically provide a bonus to damage, just not for ALL monsters in a year?

While Draco-Lich Undone did have all undead monsters (I think), I can think of only 1 undead in Giant's Travail.

If the favored enemy was "were-creatures" this year, for example, that would probably help for most enemies in Lycans Afoot but be pretty useless in Golembane.

I think this makes it a fairly balanced ability overall, but I understand the view that it's still somewhat overpowered.

I would say that just make an ability that can only target one creature per room.... But then most rooms only have one creature in them... soooooo....

There has to be a way to add flexibility to the Ranger's favored enemy bonus without making it overpowered.

I often play a ranger. It has been my experience that when I am playing Ranger, at worst, I do as much damage as any other party member. Many times, with my two attacks, I do more, sometimes a lot more. There has been a two exceptions to this: the ioun stone of the original dragon, and once I played games for nearly 36 hours straight and couldn't slide to save my live.

I do not think that this needs to be tweaked. The Ranger is already very, very strong, in my opinion, and this bonus applied to many encounters last year.

Powercreep presents a large risk to ruin an awesome, amazing game like this. You are asking for a pretty big step in powercreep.

On the back of the Ranger list, you have several check boxes, each with a different monster type (Undead, Aberrations, Monstrous Humanoids, Drow, etc..

At the start of the adventure, the player selects one of these and his favored enemy applies to it.

Sorry for the confusion.

I was proposing a new idea.

The prior post was "There has to be a way to add flexibility" and I was suggesting a simple method that could be done on the back of the card.

It doesn't always have to be usable. The cleric turn undead isn't nor the druid ability to speak with animals.

I think the point of this post is not that it has to be useful in all situations but it is a very personal power, why does it have to be undead? I am an ogre killing kind of guy, I want my ranger to have ogres as his chosen enemy!!!
