In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

Not sure if this has already been announced in a news letter and I just missed it but if it hasn't its a worthy charity and relevant our interests so it deserves a mention.

Apparently 4 of the tickets in this years celebrity nerd run are being auctioned off to support the world builders charity.

First Ticket

Second Ticket

Third Ticket

Forth Ticket

Darn, I wish I could afford to bid. I guess I have 8 days to win the lottery.

Ya I have a feeling If I went all in enough to have a shot at winning I'd end up pricing myself of the rest of the con.

I think the only one I recognize there is Wil Wheaton, and I sure wouldn't pay to go on a run with him. I dunno, I don't get the whole "celebrity" thing, especially with actors. Writers, filmmakers, and designers I can get a bit more interested meeting than actors. Even then, I can't fathom paying for the "privilege" to spend time with someone (isn't that basically prostitution). There are a lot of instances where people can produce amazing work, but are absolutely miserable to engage in social interaction. But, obviously, this is worth a premium price to some folks out there.

In the end, True Dungeon runs and all the other Gen Con experiences are always more fun with people I know or am getting to know. The idea of doing it with a bunch of "celebrities" doesn't sound appealing at all.

I see it is for a good cause, so I do hope they do raise a bunch of money. But, this just makes me scratch my head.

I bid 6 dollars over the regular ticket price, not thinking it would be enough to win. But the prices they are reaching now are kind of crazy. There is no guarantee you are going to even get a run with Mr Wheaton.

Well... yes. For a representative republic we Americans have a baffling appetite to hear about and hang out with "royalty", and since we don't have a hereditary monarchy we substitute celebs of various sorts.

But I do give credit to the celebs who donate their time to help raise a few bucks for worthy causes. They could just hang out with their own friends and/or make a few bucks doing something celebrityish. Wil seems like a cool guy, he didn't have to take the time last year to help make the Friday GT run a little more memorable. It would probably be fun to run with him; I can see him getting into character and helping to bring the adventure to life. He's an actor, after all... Unless he acts like he does on the Big Bang Theory :-)

So my assumption would be that anyone willing to donate their time to a good cause would be more fun to hang out with than the average celebrity who is too full of themselves to spend time with unimportant people like us. I'm sure there are exceptions.

But there are a lot of "normal" people who would be just as much fun to play with, you just wouldn't necessarily want to ask them for an autograph. And if you tell someone later you ran with "Joe from Alabama" no one is going to go "cool!"

But I won't be bidding on the tickets. If I had a bit more disposable income this year I might.

Hmmmmm. Celebrities I like to run with hmmmmm--Kithren, Raven, Gearon (from the western forest), Indyhalfling, Binia, aperyx, Smack, Jen, Aaron, Kandasea, David, Dougal, Bob, and too many others here on the forum. I was honored to be on the one an only, once in a life time run with Joyus the Pixie. Of course not to mention Mrs Widseth and Widseth' brother Geoff of Uta.

I only recognize one of the celebrities in the auction. Maybe they would want to run with the real celebrities of TD. (tongue is firmly in cheek).

and The Brazen Serpent Cronicles--Dragon Kiln

I;m just wondering when the run would be, I'd rather a GT run than this, and a lot of us work during the con too :)

Hrm. I recognize Patrick Rothfuss (Author of Name of the Wind and A Wise Man's Fear) and Wheaton, but I've no bloody idea who any of those other names were.
