In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Feedback Needed on New Coaching Room Ideas

Re: Feedback Needed on New Coaching Room Ideas 11 years 3 months ago #73

I love the change in layout. Having to move rooms last year made things difficult for me as I was coordinating my friends...some of whom were new to TD. Fortunately, I had printed off the info for the party cards before coming to the con, and made 'cheat sheets' for everyone to simplify the process, but having a table we can sit at for most of an hour before hand will be much better.

There was some debate earlier in the thread about putting token set posters in the coaching rooms. In keeping with the theme, how about a sign in the lobby of each inn advertising "Cobblesprocket's Adventuring Supply" (or whatever you want to call it) showing a few sample tokens/items and reminding adventurers to stock up before entering the forest. Then put a sign over the token sales table for "Cobblesprocket's...." and put the token posters there.

One of the (many) things I love about TD is how collaborative it is. "Cobblesprockets" lol

I'm not a coach, but the new layout looks awesome.

As someone who coached last year and has been part of the dungeon for a long time, I love this new look. I know last year was indeed very cramped. I also very much love the npc/coach crossover idea of the village elder. I was a fan of costuming (as many coaches are) already, and I love adding some story to that. I know everyone loves the design of the U, as do I, but I wanted to throw some love out for the immersion, hooray. Looking forward to coaching this year for sure.

As a senior coach who has coached many years, I think that the new layout is a great idea.

The chair/mat ideas are great. You can put a chair in two of the rooms and if the coach's next room includes a chair, you get to sit for the next adventure. My job keeps me on my feet for 8 to 9 hours every day, so I'm used to standing for long periods. But others may not be able to.

We can all give ideas for improvement, however I know that until we all get the Indy in August and work in the environment, we'll never know how well it actually works. Coaches as a whole are great at improvising. In the past, instructions on player set up and rule changes we're given to the coaches to pass onto the players. Coaches spend the most time with the players out of anyone in the dungeon. We have to know the Token Guide front to back, understand token set bonuses, give advice on the dungeon, answer questions, organize the party, and be able to do math.

I'm so happy to see that so much is being done to improve the coaching experience and make it easier on the coaches.

If posters and information are going to be posted on the walls of the coaching rooms, please leave enough room for players to walk around each other and their bags.

Jeff Martin wrote: Players can arrive up to 50 minutes ahead of their ticket time, and inside the Coaching room the players [will] find reference books on the tables as well as adventure background info on the walls.

Jeff asked me to let y'all know that players may sit in the coaching rooms up to 30 minutes before their scheduled start time, not 50.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Yeah, sorry about the timing. :(
But at least it was 20 something days before Gen Con, not 20 minutes before your run.
