Not actually intended for play? Dave? Are you talking about the Rings of Regen? I saw one at Indy, and they looked like legitimate magic items.

Sorry for the mis leading post. Let me restate. Because I had not seen these particular tokens on the overall list of those available, and because they were created in a different color of ink (blue or purple I will have to go check). I made the assumption that Jeff had them created for "Thank you" gifts and hadn't really intended to have them go into circulation. I have not actually asked him, however, so I truthfully I do not know. I am usually more careful about how I answer, pointing out when it is my opinion or an official TD response, sorry must have been asleep, or half way there at the time.

I suppose the rings of regeneration (1 HP per room) would be playable in the dungeon, but a ring of three wishes would pretty much spoil the challenge, so I would hope it would never actually make it into play.

Well concidering that the folks that got the ring of wishes are more likely to work the event, it's a nearly safe bet they won't be used. The ring of regen on the other hand went to a larger audience so it's likely people will want to use them if they have the opportunity. Now, if I had a ring of wishes the first thing I'd wish for is to be able to use my +1 quarterstaff in combat :)

The most effective token I have seen used in play was a wand of cure light wounds. It had five charges of 5 hp's each so the party basically had an extra 25 hit points at their disposal.

The ring of regeneration tokens are useable, but like Dave said the main purpose was a thank you momento and a tribute to all of the hard work the volunteers put in. (i.e. they work so hard they need rings of regeneration to keep going) Game play-wise they only heal one point per room so they wouldn't tip the balance to much.

As far as the ring of wishes, those were given to three people with strong ties to True Dungeon so the odds of them being abused are pretty slim. Like all D&D players know, just having access to wishes doesn't mean things will be easy. We had a few people this year use the Oracle of Muti token, which summons the oracle to answer one question for them. The most common question seemed to be "What should we do?" or "What is the right answer?". As you can probably guess, they received some type of crypic answer instead "of pick the one on the top left". Lance came in and played the oracle for one of my groups in the library room. They asked which tile they should pick and Lance paused for a second and then in his best oracle voice said "You should pick the one that is correct". It was so funny, even the party had to laugh.

with an answer like that I would have to beat the oracle! summon someone to help and you get a cheesey answer.

but if I was the "oracle" I would have done the thing!

The Elixir of Life is also awesome, since it lets you bring back a dead party member.

The weapons are really good things to get, especially the ones you can use. At Indy the weapons all had exorbitant trade values (~500+ gp). You could trade a +1 weapon for pretty much anything else that you wanted, maybe for two or three good things.

And the Cloak and Boots of Elvenkind rule if you're the rogue. They've been changed to be 'Rogue Only', but they each give a +4 on Sneak Attack, if I'm not mistaken. Plus - they can stack for a +8 !!!

I got richer than you! I ended up with 545 gp in gold and gems!

haven't gotten my list together but I soon will. (tonight)

I would be interested in that cloak but, if you get a better offer I understand. I'll take a look and divide up my tokens into class specific items.

Catch ya guys a little later,
X

Daaaamn gentlemen. There's some stuff in there that I would DEFINITELY like t have. Not sure I have that much to trade, though - I'll go through my inventory tonight and get back to you. I may end up having to order some Tokens online just to get some stuff to trade! ;) (I'm such a treasure token addict)
