This year we thought we would try to make the Amulet of Wonder a bit more like the good ole "Wand of Wonder" so that it has random effects.<br /><br />When a person tells the Coach that they are wearing an AoW, the Coach will have them roll a special d6 that will have various effects that will last the entire dungeon run.<br /><br />1) +1 to AC<br />2) +2 to AC<br />3) +3 to AC<br />4) +3 to all saves<br />5) +3 hit poinits<br />6) DOUBLE Horn of Plenty (gives the player 6 draws from the treasure box for every 1 treasure coin earned)<br /><br />This die must be rolled on the player table in front of all the players, and the Coach will make the appropriate adjustments to the character when finalizing the Party Card.  Anyone who gets #6 will have a special notation made on the Party Card for the exit people to see.<br /><br />Good luck!<br /><br /> www.truedungeon.com/email/aow.jpg <br />

Sounds fun, Jeff, I'll bet the AoW is used a LOT this year!  I want to get my hands on one of those dice, they are too cool!  Maybe one or more will be in the auction next year.  (speaking of which - will you be giving out more info on items to be auctioned?)<br /><br />

There are usually about three opportunities in the Dungeon to solve a puzzle or defeat a monster and earn a gold coin that can be exchanged for a treasure token, or maybe something else.  With the AoW on double HoP mode, each of those times you would earn a gold coin, you will earn 6 gold coins instead.  So instead of being able to get 1-3 gold coins per dungeon, you can get 6-18 per dungeon instead.  Pretty amazing!

<br /><br />ok now im really confused! Gold Coins? In the past you would randomly draw one token from a box after you defeat a monster or solve a puzzle. The Horn of Plenty changes that to 3 draws. Are you saying you would get 6 draws from all the treasure chest instead of the normal one?

that is what he is saying.  If you roll the "double HoP" you will draw 6 tokens instead of one.

Only they're changing the treasure chest system.  So, you won't literally get six draws out of each treasure chest, but you'll get six tokens every token you earn in the dungeon. <br />

Jeff experimented with something at True Realm this year regarding the treasure boxes.  Instead of having them in the dungeon they are at the exit area.  You got the gold coins for each room that you successfully defeated that was designated as a treasure room.  You turned the coins in to get the appropriate number of treasure draws.<br /><br />Kim

<br /><br />Jeff, thank you for not making this suck. To the contrary, this definitely lives up to the promise of the Amulet to be different and cool. When you said Wand of Wonder, memories of all the Chaos Makers© I have ever gamed with came flooding back and filled me with dread.<br /><br />I should not have doubted you!  :)
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

It would seriously suck to give up a neck slot with a 1 in 6 chance of a NEGATIVE effect.  I'm glad they range from okay to awesome. <br />
