I actually have played TD every year since the beginning (though only at So Cal the first few years), but for the life of me, I can't remember how combat was handled in the days before weapons had damage wheels. Would someone be so kind as to refresh my memory please?
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Each character class had a specific damage range.  Clerics were 1d8, Rogues 1d6, Wizards 1d4, etc.  There were pre made sliders with damage wheels that reflected this.  When you went to slide, you selected the damage wheel for your character.  Tokens then added plusses to hit and damage above each character's standard damage potential.
You should know better than to pick up a duck in a dungeon....
