It would be interesting to see if someone like GamingEtc. would use all the GP from their token purchases to bid on one, and then resell it on Ebay.  <br /><br />This might make the other items in the auction a bit easier to get, if this drains a bunch of GP from the top two GP holders.  =)

I guess it all depends on how stupid people are. I certainly wouldn't see any reason to overbid on this, not when it comes with a heafty cost to complete. How many people really have a scroll of light to sac anyway? And if you don't, then what's the point in the first place? Woooo, boots of +2 fort saves. The smart move still seems like waiting and letting the impetuous have a go at it.

<br /><br />I did not think about that. I hope these tokens go last in the auction so everyone is saving their GPs. That way i can get some other items cheaper.

The big gold hoards already know who one another are. if they were really bright, they'd just do some price fixing. Get together beforehand and agree who's going to bid on which incarnation of this so they don't clash. Hell, it's what I would do.

Well, there are only two available - and there are way more than two people that bought a LOT of tokens this year, so there may be more people wanting them with the resources to bid than there are items to get.

<br />There could be 3 if the one is not drawn during the event. What is going to happen though is a newbie will draw one out form the treasure chest and someone will make a heck of a trade for it.

This is a great idea.  Just the minute chance of getting one is making me wish it were August.

how about we make it simple? everyone just give me all your gold. this way you will not be faced with the stress and anguish of having to deal with the auction. this would be the smart thing to do. 

The auction will be a "sit down when the price is too high" kind of thing, so that when two people are left standing then the bidding stops.  So, technically someone cannot bid on two Arcane Recipes.  However, proxies could be used so....

I foresee me finding the one in the dungeon and winning the two at auction. I will then create an Ultra artifact by combining the three parts into a +3 Keen Dread sword of dancing (bad part is only a fighter wearing the boots of free action can use it).
