TOPIC: Using an UR Weapon

Re: Using an UR Weapon 14 years 11 months ago #13

I had the misfortune of losing a Flaming Shortbow in last year's dungeon. I eventually found it, and Gary was extremely kind in helping me search for it.

Our group has adopted a verbal check before we leave each room...
"OK, I got mine. Do you still have your PURP?"

I am the keeper of all my groups tokens. I wheel and deal with them. I practically do a checklist after we leave each room. I am mainly checking the purps. We have a few and I dont want to loose them. I even double check the sliders (before and after).
In 2007 I found a purp and had the DM pass it along. We were pretty sure it was the group in front of us
Someone did claim, while investigating my necklace, that some of them were coming lose/open. I immediately went and squeezed each case but I've yet to actually have one pop open. Everything was accounted for at the end of TR. I also picked up another 15 or so from Mike Lutz, which means I have more to add to the necklace of doom.

It looked cool Henry but it also looked mighty heavy.
So it may become the necklace of doomed neck.

Having lost 2, +2 scimitars in the dungeon, I am leaning toward using a proxy. (I will keep the real one sealed in my sash.)

I was actually in a group where the barbarian had his Purple 2-handed sword stolen. He went to the table after combat and found that a common was in his token wheel instead. Unfortunately we were at the time limit and were pushed out of the room. When in the Exit room he left quickly and I wasn't able to talk to him. So yes theft can happen and yes the only thing you can do is keep an eye on your tokens. That said though I will still bring my purples with me because what's the fun of having something you never use? A collector can keep his collection at home. I want to play!

Lady Myke

I had no idea that so many PURPs were lost each year, much less stolen... Guess it's time to keep a closer eye than ever on those special tokens.

If you cant keep your eye on your purps don't use them. It the sad simple truth. Proxy tokens could get out of hand and lead to fake tokens entering the token Market.

PURPS are lost...hate to think stolen...

I had a slider go off the table at TR...and had I had a real Gearon's mace - let alone the only WOODIE I have go off in the dark...well let's just say the heart attack and death avoided will well be worth Jeff allowing Proxy stuff to continue.

nuff said.

nothing like watch the purps (that just does not sound right) go off the table. My hearts stops everytime.

Mine didn't launch off the table, I had several tokens in hand and someone ran into me, fleeing from a monster, and they all went flying. Searched until we had to leave the room. Was a big bummer.

This is outrageous and it sounds like it had to be someone in that group. I'm not sure I could let it go, knowing it was one of those particular people.

I too carry quite a few tokens loose in hand...I thought I would try something different at GenCon 2009...they are screw together hobby containers I think from Target.

Each "cell" holds 6 tokens - the wand sized thing in the picture is actually two sets put together - so 48 tokens MAX.
