TOPIC: More tokens, less trading

Has anyone else noticed that less and less trading seems to happen on the forums? I know a lot of it is conducted behind the scenes but we don't even get as many threads where people list their haves and wants than in times past. I always assumed that there would be more swapping as time went on with ever growing numbers of tokens, but it seems to have been the reverse. Most people seem content to sit on their hoards for the most part. Maybe it's just because trading isn't worth the effort when you already have so many tokens that you'd break a camel's back trying to get them from place to place. I know that while I used to be happy to ship a single token around and get one back, nowadays I try to work larger deals just so I can consolidate the mess. <br /><br />People also don't seem to be near as willing to trade off excess purps as they used to be. I figured that the '00 bag effect would have spawned a lot of trading since the result was random. Chances were good you don't get something for your preferred class and the goal would be to get something that fit better. Fewer people seem to make the attempt and the response to those threads tend to be crickets chirping.

I've done a fair amount of trades this year.  Like you said I think a lot happens behind the scenes.

<br /><br />Someday the term "excess purps" will be in my vocabulary...  ;/<br /><br />I did a couple of small trades here on the forums... but on the whole, I tend to wait for GenCon and didn't do much trading last year. Maybe this year will be different- last year I was more focused on the combo tokens and trade items. That and I guess I am just not as big of a collector as other folks.<br /> <br /><br />

Seems so complicated to go through all the trouble to mail tokens unless it is a big trade.  I will get my list up soon though, as I do have some stuff I want and some stuff to trade.<br /><br />I wonder if it has to do with how the set is.  This year a lot of the really good items are "good for everyone" compared to previus sets.  I can see a rogue trading his plate armore for boots of elvenkind all day.  I don't really see anyone willing to part with torcs of natural armor (unless extra) or those spell absorbing things.  Seems like all the best items this year are consumables or usable by all.

ive been trading as much this year as before.  especially when you consider that there are still a few months before gencon.<br />i had 1 trade before true realm, 3 arranged to happen at true realm + ~3 more happen after getting there, and 3 trades since (and trying for a couple more trades already, if the other party is interested).  two of those trades did involve my 'extra' URs, but since i try to equip my whole party, i dont often have extras.  but i do agree that part of the difficulty is that the highest sought tokens are wanted by everyone, and often in multiples.
