TOPIC: 2009 Amulet of Wonder effect ???

Anyone know what the Amulet of Wonder does this year?

We know what it did at True Realm.  Don't know if the effect will be the same for GenCon, though. <br /><br />If you haven't heard about the TR effect:<br />The AoW would "transform" into a different medallion for the run.  You got to keep the AoW, but for that run you would get a different medallion* and get the effect of that medallion for the run.  You would also get to keep the medallion token that it "transformed" into, which you could use in future runs. <br /><br />*Harpy Claw for TD:DC - immunity to magical diseases<br />Oak Medallion for Retro - +2 Strength<br />

We will 99% keep the same effects at Gen Con Indy that we had at True Realm.  Of course, we might decide to do something a little different on Saturday if token stocks get a little low.  IF you really want one of those special tokens, it is best to get a Thursday or Friday slot.

hmm, so what you are saying here is that i should try and get a late saturday run?  <br />hey, i thought it was great getting special tokens for my AoW, especially the +2 strength (my jaw dropped when the DM plopped that onto the table in front of me), but that bonus just doenst have the same replay value that last years did (being 4th level is always awesome...being a drow may be even more awesomer).

I think it was a great idea to give out keepsake tokens for the AoW effect. I know it kept a number of Horns of Plenty sidelined for at least a run or two so people could get the new tokens.

I probably used the AoW more than the HoP at TR.  It's trading a few random pulls for one very directed pull.  Seems like that might help to throttle the outflow of tokens due to all the HoPs out there. <br />

um, ok, with the direction most of this feedback is going, i just want to re-itterate my point.  a suprise special token for the AoW was all sorts of awesome...but please dont make that the default ability of the AoW...unless the special token amulets are going to start having the abilities of 'play as 4th level' or 'gain drow abilities' and stuff like that (which i doubt you would put on a token).
