TOPIC: Hat of Escape + Ring of Sanctuary: To stack or not?

I really like the tokens. I saw them combined rather effectively (along with a few other spells make a certain wizard nigh impossible to attack... Bob....).  I'll just pose the question for discussion:<br /><br />Should you be able to stack the Hat of Escape with the Ring of Sanctuary, whereby forcing the GM to roll 2x in order to attack?<br /><br />It this an unintended situation that is perhaps too powerful? <br /><br />The question was touched upon in BrainScan's thread on "effect stacking", I just wanted to bring this one up specifically.

I can see both sides of this issue, but I'm leaning toward allowing the stack.  The Ring of Sanctuary requires the wearer not to take offensive actions.  Stacking the two would be of the most utility when the player is providing defensive support (healing, buffing, drinking potions, etc.)  If the wearer is actively participating in the combat, only the Hat of Escape is effective anyway.  Plus, there are quite a few nice rings available for slotting that will help police it some.  I know in my own case that although I have both tokens, I chose Hat of Escape since its effects are on even when I am fighting.  So, unless I somehow end up with a hand of glory (which then causes neck spot conflicts), I will probably not be trying to stack them any time soon.<br /><br />

I think stacking is a GREAT addition to tokens...like CCGs you should be getting some GREAT benefits if you are able to collect and stack certain things!<br /><br />Don't hold it against the Wizards if they have used their great minds and found a way to get GREAT AC out of things that are not typically considered ARMOR.<br /><br />Hail Wizards and their wisdom!  <br /><br /><br /><br />oh - and try to roll better Stu!

Just that using them together requires the more restrictive ruling of Sanctuary, the player can not take offensive actions. 

I believe the combos were:<br /><br />Hat of Escape<br />Mirror image<br />Blink<br />Ring of Evasion<br />Cloak of Displacement...<br /><br />None of which would call the CHAR into having to be in SANCTUARY.<br /><br />Now granted, the Wizard would have to take Turn 1 to cast Mirror Image and Blink...but hey...for the 5 combos to play out for the entire room....heck, might be fun!
