And let's give it up for the clerics who keep healing us wizards!

Hm. Note to self: Re-check the bracelets. I liked the ring already, but perhaps overlooked their use together.
Even I have to admit the ring and bracelet together give the mage some significant power generation.

I wanted to second Toby's comment and express my thanks for you allowing me to play bard in the final run of DC. I'm glad that you enjoyed playing the wizard. The entire party was awesome and I feel very fortunate to have met and worked with you.

True Dungeon as an experience became even more enjoyable for me thanks to one small token.....Widseth's Mystical Lute. The addition of that single token has allowed me to do more than just sing during combat.

Yeah, the RoW and the Bracelets are a huge combination! Through in some wands and scrolls, let him hide behind the druid tank, and you have a offensive powerhouse.

Interesting note, I did just that, literally, in True Grind. The monster was about to take his turn and I stepped behind our Druid (because he was closest to me) and crouched down. The DM looked up and then cracked up. But I didn't get hit! =D

I agree about the RoW/Bracelets of Zephyr combo. Very nice. With it the Wizard can dish out about 34 pts of damage in a single round with a coulple of relatively mediocre slides (11 or better). Add in a Ring of Focus and it's bumped to 36. That three way combo also turns those couple of Ray of Frost spells into some nice damage (14 if you get the plane correct).

So yeah, I'm feeling some renewed love for the wizard. I'm going to have a hard time choosing when I go to GenCon.

As for yielding Bard, I didn't mind. I'd done so for Linda as well since that was the class she felt most comfortable with. So I was all studied up as Wizard.

Our Wizard made excellent use of the Bracelets at True Realm, regularly dealing out 30+ points of damage in the first round of combat. And once her spells were used up, she was nailing the monsters with hit after hit from her +1 Staff of Striking with her Gauntlets of Ogre Might and Girdle of Hill Giant Strength =)
I hear ya. I just got mine and I can't wait to try it out! (thanks mike your a star!)
When I first started I was in a big party, and no one wanted the bard, I said why not. I had to remind myself every combat how much "damage" I was "doing". Atleast the DMs got a kick out of my song, thankfully none(so far) are easily offended. :)
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

I hope you like it, Mark! I know our Bard was thrilled when he was able to start attacking with the rest of us instead of just singing =)

Heck, with the Bracelets, the Ring of Wizardry, the Ring of Focus, and a couple really good slides, the wizard can do 72 points of damage in a single round!
I'm done devaluing the abilities of the wizard (my chosen class). There certainly are means by which the wizard can make a significant impact. How many wizards survived True Grind? Although, my party succeeded, I ended up cooked and crispy.

I survived on regular mode, but got flash-frozen on Nightmare.
