TOPIC: Circlet of Elemental Mastery question

While at True Realm, I received conflicting information about the Circlet of Elemental Mastery, so I want to seek clarity afterwards.<br />It was my understanding that you had to make a successful "mage test" to get the benefit of switching energy type, and that this test was not separate from the regular test.<br />Then at TR someone said no testing was necessary, which makes perfect sense, since you do not have to test for Melf's Acid arrow and Scorching ray (as these spells require a slide on the combat board instead) and that the token does not say anything about the test as well.<br />But I just want to be perfectly clear, so when I coach our team's mage they know what to expect.<br />Thanks,<br />Greyseer

Greyseer, it was not my uderstanding that a mage check was needed, but let's wait to hear from the PTB on this.<br />

<br /><br /><br />IIRC, I thought it originally required a mage check (with one of the prototypes) but in the final version, they decided to scrap the extra check (not worth the time hassle and not too big of a deal anyway).

Do Shambling Mounds take half damage from fire?  The circlet would be useful facing that monster.<br />

They HEAL from Electrical attacks...and take extra from fire I think.

I knew lightning attacks would help them, but I thought b/c they are wet and slimy they take only half-damage from fire.  My kingdom for a Monster Manual!<br />

In a DnD setting they have fire resistance 10 not so much half damage but -10 damage from any fire attack.  Obviously that is too high for TD settings so it may be half damage for TD purposes.

Well, just in case I used my circlet to cast Freezing Ray on the shambler instead of scorching ray.<br />
