TOPIC: Golden Ticket Note

Golden Ticket Note 15 years 6 months ago #1

After a great deal of thinking and consternation, I have decided to cut back on the number of tokens we are going to off for sale this year. My guess is that the economy will hurt sales anyway, and I don't want to get stuck with any Golden Tickets sitting in full boxes in August. My plan is to sell out of tokens in May.

So, we are only going to offer a single printing of tokens in 2009 -- equal to the same amount of tokens we offered last year during the first printing. This means that your chances of getting a Golden Ticket will be exactly the same as last year. So, we will see what happens in 2009.

That sounds great, Jeff. And, I guess if token sales are a lot higher than you think (which they might be given the $8K package you're offering), you could always do a Silver Ticket token run like last year.

Mike

Jeff,
How are the Golden Tickets packaged? Do they just show up randomly in a stack of 10 tokens? Are they always in the same position (top, bottom, middle)?
I've never received one (obviously), so I'm just curious.

I'm not 100% sure - but they take up one of the 7 common slots I believe.

Excellent, a good reason to keep my spirits up as I pour through all of the common tokens to come!

I thought the reason Jeff was originally thinking of a bigger order is that the vendor increased the amount of minimum order. So, he wouldn't be able to do a smaller batch with silver tickets like last year...

It's a little complicated, but the bigger order was going to be done because we would not be able to make a second smaller order like last year. And True Realm made things more complicated as we had to get all our dungeon tokens in hand by March.

We will STILL have some tokens on hand at Gen Con Indy to sell. I am holding some back for that.

I am sending out a newsletter today (hopefully) where we announce that pre-orders start in two days -- on Friday. I have the Onyx proof tokens already to go, but really there is no rush to place an order. However, if you do place an order on Friday, I will most likely send out any Onyx tokens that day (or Saturday) so they should be in your hands by Monday.

You know, if we all buy our tokens early, and send in for Trade Items by mail, there should be plenty of tokens available for resale! All those recycled tokens could make up the second round of sales.

TD has been there - done that...it was ugly...I think we they will stay with factory packaged packs for sale!!!
