That turned out great!

You realize now we have to go back and do the old ones...

We can so long as we can keep Brian, Cody and Katie happy. That is why this one is called TD7 -- in the grand tradition of the WG4 module.

i like the double tribute. great job everyone and thank you very much.

Ha Ha very nice! and I do recognize the cover style. Very thoughtful of you and a tribute to the earliest of gamers.

Right down to what looks to imitate a wizard in the lower left and that (usually yellow?) "star" in the lower right.

I feel like I am being taken back to 1982 and cracking open the shrink-wrap of one of those early modules! Great job on capturing that "classic" D&D module look!
Legally... its questionable. Morally... its disgusting. Personally... I *like* it.

I saw it looked different (wizard) but I can't see how without zooming it in or something (which I didn't do) and I have no idea what a shrieking emu wizard is (other than that's the name of a forumite).

JKW

Okay. Does it have some background history? Like the Duck in a Dungeon thing I hadn't heard of until I joined TD?

There is a story behind how Cody (Shrieking Emu) got his forum name, but he's way better at telling it than me. Hopefully, he'll come by and share it with this group, I know he's told it on other forums before, but it's been a while and I can't dig it up right now.

Since I did the design and layout for the module, I wanted to put my "mark" on it in a small way. So, I just put a wizard's hat on my "Shrieking Emu" symbol to replace the famous TSR wizard. Simple as that!

As for my username, here's the story on that...

The story begins a few years ago with a church softball league. Our team needed a name, and not wanting to just have the church's name on the shirts, we decided to be creative. Some goofy animal names were thrown out, but someone eventually suggested "Emus". I didn't even know what an emu was (at the time, I thought it was like a yak or large beast of burden - true story), but it sounded goofy enough for me. The girl's reasoning behind picking "Emus" was that apparently it is impossible for an emu to go backwards, which is a good trait for a church and to a lesser extent, a softball team. So, we then became the Emus, and all was well. A couple on the team lived on a farm, and through their various channels actually acquired a small emu that was put on a leash and brought to the games. After learning that an emu was a bird, not a large beast, I was entranced by the little fella that we had named "Homer". However, Homer was a really mean emu and liked to yell and strut near first base. Emus are mean.

Fast forward a year later, to Gen Con 2006. I had heard about NASCRAG through the forums (they tend to pimp a bit), and decided that I'd like to give it a whirl. I didn't have a team, but I had met up some friends and two other folks to form a team about a half hour before the event. However, we needed a goofy team name as per NASCRAG rule 3.17b(3). We suggested some, and I wanted to throw out the name "Emus", but decided it needed a little something extra. Remembering Homer's regular shrieks of protestation, I suggested "Shrieking Emus". A few dumb looks later, it had become the team name, with a goofy emu shriek serving as the team cheer.

Between Gen Con 2006 and 2007, I decided I wanted to change my forum handle from the unoriginal "Cody" (my first name) to something different. I kept thinking of the NASCRAG team, so I decided to change to the somewhat more original "Shrieking Emu".

Hopefully the Shrieking multiclassed-into-wizard Emu will be on future printed mods!
