TOPIC: That horse STILL LIVES!

Re: That horse STILL LIVES! 15 years 7 months ago #25
=D I think that unless the "slayer sword" is going to become part of a set. It should be open to all classes that can use that weapon. It may not be a bad idea to make it keen, leave the dmg out put as is, limit the classes that can use it. I do not care for playing the fighter, but It would not be overpowering. If anything I would love to see the poison dmg. on the dagger go up, but thats just me ;/

Yeah, I originally proposed 10pts of poison damage depending on a failed FORT save by the monster. But that was too much for most folks. I can live with 5 points with no save.
Legally... its questionable. Morally... its disgusting. Personally... I *like* it.
Monks are supposed to be the weaponless experts.

Quick question, and off topic, when the Monk goes to 4th level does the bare-hand attack damage go up? Just curious.

It would make sense. Only problem being you'd have to have extra sets of damage sliders in every combat room. Not to mention it'd have to be set aside just to make sure it didn't get mixed up with the normal sliders. Still, it'd be worth the confusion and extra effort. Monks should gain more barehanded damage with levels.
kewl - thx!

It'd take an act of God to slide a '1' anyway.

I've seen it happen lots of times...came close once too!

I like the Charm as it is...a true Lucky Charm and when faced with a really bad save roll - it is a get out of jail free card! Truely a must have token once again!
There is Absolutely no reason(other than to piss off Monk players) to remove the Monk from the Cestus. The monk only getting a purp weapon every other year is lame and annoying. Put the Monk back on the Cestus!!!!! and if your worried about the Ac thing . let the monk only wield one........... I feel better now thank you.

It surprises how everyone is against the Monk getting weapons, whats the big deal?

the issue with the cestus was the slot it takes. all monk-special weapons have been bracers, which basically allowed the monk a special bonus when using barehanded attack (with both hands) at the cost of not using other bracers. monks also have other weapons that do not take the bracer slot, but actually use hands, but using these weapons means the monk is not using barehanded/double attack (and uses only one weapon). so, which is the cestus? is it taking the bracer slot, so the monk can have a double attack, or is it taking a hand slot forcing the monk to use only one cestus as their sole weapon? and if you want the double cestus attack, how does that affect the other classes that can use the cestus? avoiding this issue is, i believe, why monk was removed from the cestus.

It twitched! And thanks for the continued good feedback!

Changed the sword name (sorry, never watched Buffy), and clarified the descriptions on the Charm and Cestus.

I like the new pictures on the boots and cap. It looks like the charm has finally stabilized into something that causes no confusion or argument and is still very good.

I agree with WhiskeyJack on the green glow for the charm. Seems like it would fit the celtic/druidic theme better. Also, has the picture on Gearon's Mace always been black? Seems a little off to me since it is blessed but really minor.

Minor typographical nitpicks:
Ring of elemental command - 'pts' needs a period after it
The Cestus - 'pts' needs a period after it with it's current wording but as others have said, the wording is a little confusing. I can't think of anything short, perhaps the picture can be reduced in size a little? For the wording how about 'Reduces monster's AC by 2 pts. on hit' or '-2 to monster's AC on hit' If it still stacks with itself on subsequent hits, the last part could be 'on each hit'

Are there any plans for a wizard friendly set? Even though it sounds like the wizard will be able to use the Might set, the individual pieces have very little benefit. The set bonus will still be nice (what wizard can complain with more spells and hit points?) but it's a little hard for me to justify getting a crown now and waiting 3 years to use it just for the whole set bonus. I'm not trying to knock on the crown or the Might set at all, I'm just wondering if there's any plans for something else down the road that would affect whether the might set makes any sense for the wizard.

*flog* =D

Jeff, thanks for the changes- the wording on the charm and cestus are now both very clear. Also, thanks for restoring a more manly color of purple glow to the Dread Sword. (I never thought I would use the phrases"manly color" and "purple glow" in the same sentence.)

The thing with the phrase "Slayer" is just a Buffy thing. If the sword had been named "Sword of Slaying" rather than "Slayer Sword", it probably wouldn't trip that meme for folks who had seen the show. Thanks for understanding even though you haven't seen Buffy. Nobody commented on any of the other names I put out there... anyone have a strong preference for one over the others???

I think we are really close to a release set!

If you do end up trying out the green glow... if you could, photoshop the charm to be gold instead- I bet it will look good that way.
Leave the Charm alone! It is perfect and no green glow! The purple suits it much better in my opinion. I think the purple gives it that fae appearance and I think the purple goes better for a druidic/celtic theme anyways. I will always think Irish if you made the glow green so Jeff please just keep the glow purple! It makes more sense for a purple level token! Now I just have to decide if I can come up with $1500 US because I am looking at that Celestial Set and going that's pretty sweet! Sigh! So many choices and so little cash... of course I could just buy tokens and not go to Gencon.... Hmmm

Lady Myke

If it goes (glows) green - for sure everybody will be calling it "lucky charm!"
