The conception is you sacrifice damage dealing to cause the special effect of AC loss. A monk wouldn't be sacrificing anything since it would continue to be the best damage they could deal. Then, there's also the fact that monks dual wield. You definitely wouldn't want any single character having the potential to do -4 Ac per turn.

=D I think that unless the "slayer sword" is going to become part of a set. It should be open to all classes that can use that weapon. It may not be a bad idea to make it keen, leave the dmg out put as is, limit the classes that can use it. I do not care for playing the fighter, but It would not be overpowering. If anything I would love to see the poison dmg. on the dagger go up, but thats just me  ;/

I like the changes to the Sword (including the name) and to the Charm.  I think the Charm is a must-have now, the extra +1 Savings Throw without a slot taken, plus rerolling 1's, is great!  Thanks for listening to all the feedback Jeff!

I do like the changes Jeff! Just a few quick comments:<br /><br /><br />#1. I think the +2 Slayer Sword is pretty spiffy. There are valid arguments about the +2 Long Sword, but the Slayer Sword is actually the best one-handed weapon in the game.<br /><br />Umm...you guys do realize that the current damage wheel is actually *superior* to the Bastard Sword's damage wheel, right? A standard Bastard sword is: 2-2-3-4-5-6-6-6-9-10 for 5.3 average damage. A Great Sword is 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 for 5.5 damage. A +2 Bastard Sword would then do 7.3 average damage while the Slayer Sword is slightly better with 7.5 damage. For Fighters, it's better as it is now rather than changing it to a +2 Bastard Sword (you lose 0.2 average damage just to let the Barbarian use it).<br /><br />Another way to think about it is that this is a +2 Great Sword with +3 or 4 AC for the Fighter. (Gives you the damage wheel of the Great Sword but frees up a hand to let you use a Shield).<br /><br />But if people are worried about it being too bland or you want to retain some more "fighter-flavor," then maybe you can add something to do with the Power Attack. Either +3 (or +5) extra damage when using a Power Attack. Or when you use a Power Attack, you may reslide a missed attack once.<br /><br /><br /><br />#2. Questor's Charm of Luck is fine now. As others may have noticed, any time you bring in the issue of taking more tokens (from the treasure box), human greed rears its ugly green head and messes things up.<br /><br />Does the Charm let you keep rerolling 1's or do you only get one reroll? (i.e. if you first roll a "1" and then your second roll is another "1").<br /><br /><br /><br />#3. SeyLay's +2 Sundering Cestus seems a bit strong now that it reduces the AC by 2 with each hit. Compared to a +2 Long Sword, it gives up the "9" on the damage wheel, but the AC reduction easily compensates for it.<br /><br />Others have also noted that the wording can be clarified. In particular, it might be a good idea to have the Sundering effect only work against monsters. Otherwise it would be too good in True Arena (since you often spend most of the time needing a "20" to hit).

<br /><br />I hadn't checked the damage wheel that closely, it did appear to be different than the Bastard Sword (i.e. no double numbers), but I didn't compute out any averages. So it looks like it is not "a +2 Bastard Sword" per se, but its own being- technically. Being the best 1H option, and Fighter specific is enough for me... can we change the name though? "Slayer" unfortunately does bring thoughts of Buffy to mind... (unless the thing is +3 versus vamps, then it makes sense). How about the following:<br /><br />"+2 Sword of Martial Prowess"<br />"+2 Commander's Sword"<br />"+2 Dread Sword"<br />"+2 Sword of Mastery"<br />"+2 Fighter's Warblade"<br />"+2 Warrior's Blade"<br />"+2 Warlord's Blade"<br />"+2 Dead Horse Flogger"<br /><br />Although I have to admit, I miss calling it "2Edge".  =)<br />
Legally... its questionable. Morally... its disgusting. Personally... I *like* it.

There is Absolutely no reason(other than to piss off Monk players) to remove the Monk from the Cestus. The monk only getting a purp weapon every other year is lame and annoying. Put the Monk back on the Cestus!!!!! and if your worried about the Ac thing . let the monk only wield one........... I feel better now thank you.<br /><br />It surprises how everyone is against the Monk getting weapons, whats the big deal?

<br />Does re-roll also mean slide?  So essentially the Charm works on really bad slides and really bad Save rolls?<br />

<br /><br />Why? We all hate monks, their players, and anyone who so much as shaves their heads.<br /><br />What no doubt adds to our monk hate is the assertion that there is no reason to yank them from the cestus when the reasoning has been stated and is fairly obvious.
