TOPIC: This is not the Post you are looking for Henwy. Move along.
Don't you think the "double-edge" of the sword is that you can do a lot of damage -- but there is a chance of doing no damage as well -- even with a "20"?

That certainly is a negative- just not as exciting to me as the possibility you might gut yourself like a trout. :O But if I am the only one who feels "meh" about it, I can live with it.

I like the damage taken aspect because it makes the player choose between higher damage dealt with the chance of taking damage themselves OR using a lesser weapon with no chance of self-inflicted wounds.

The problem with that "damage taken" route is that there are too many ways for DMs to do it differently. It is just too easy to do weird stuff with it...like adding in damage bonuses, or Bardsong, or sliding a "20".

I want to avoid all the nastygrams after Gen Con when someone took more than the set 3 points.

This is a minor nitpick, but the '10 foot long pole' still doesn't sit right with me. I'd go with "10 ft. Wooden Pole" or something similar, just to match all of the other generic equipment tokens.

I love the look of the circlet's and crowns Wow! Jeff just so you know I think your right about the null damage effect. Too many other things cause damage and you don't want players to complain about their swords biting them. Though there is always the cursed token in a room hehehehe. Anyways I have only looked at the UR's and when I get back from picking my daughter up from school I'll look at the others!

Lady Myke

Yeah, I started thinking about worst-case scenarios... 14x2+10(various bonuses)=38 points = 7 points for the fighter = fighter drops dead. (assuming a 20 and the 1 per 5 rule I mentioned earlier... I could see how that would put a damper on someone's day.)
For the Cestus do you really mean that any successful hit reduces AC or only on a CRIT?
Detect Poison: Page 34 of Token Guide is an ALL spell, then again so was Detect Undead. Is it now moving like the Detect Undead scroll, from All to Divine?

I thought the sword's adverse potential was limited to the 3 damage, and that any of the modifiers would not be included. Did I miss it?

Yes, that is how it was prior to the null value version. I had posted a suggestion (earlier in this thread) that the weilder take damage based on the amount it deals out (ignore that, it was just brainstorming on my part).
As long as the damage is limited to 3, that doesn't seem so bad, given that it is double edged and all.

I don't really see why a penalty has to be added to the Faerie-Iron Armor. The way it was is a natural progression. (Someone crafts/invents something neat, someone else comes along and improves it. It happens all the time with high-tech toys and I can see it applying to medieval crafted items as well. The old item isn't obsolote, it just not optimal anymore. Those that really care will shelll out the money to upgrade.)

The change to the bullets makes sense. It is consistent with the Sling bullet of Impact (2008) and now a rare has twice the power as the uncommon. Preferred it when they were +3/+6 but I seem to be in the minority when it comes to favoring "Tim Taylor's Motto". (LOL)

Along the same line I noticed that the rare arrow is now +2. That again is consistent and make it worth using.

No love for the rogue (removed it for the Faerie-Iron Club). Not sure the justification here (other than more powerful than a short sword). Seems to me a club is a rogue weapon.

Understand the change to the +2 Double Edged Sword. I think this is a good compromise, though I must agree with the other posts that the name is at best a stretch.

Am glad to see most of the 20 things went away, now if you only give a little love to ...

The Crown of Might is much more appropriate. I was having a hard time wrapping the concept of might with the power it granted (before). Now it makes sense and should be a great but difficult choice for us players.

I also asked before if the monk could use 2 SeyLah's Cestuses. Still curious to what the answer is.

Overall, great job Jeff and Forum Users!
