TOPIC: 2006 Ingredients

So what are the odds that 2006 Ingredients will be required for any future combo items?

You can never rule out anything, but I'd say that the odds are probably not good of there ever being a call for them again.  I don't know if they have a way of determining how many are still out there that haven't been cashed in over the last couple of years.<br /><br />Kim

I wouldn't be surprised to see a token that required a random number of any ingredients . . . so the older ones could still be turned in.

At this point anyone buying 2006 Ingredients is either trying to complete a collection or real optimist.  I would not pay more than about 30 GP each (and this is just to complete my collection). 

my thinking is along the same lines as darkangel.  i dont think the old ingredients will be specifically required, but i kinda expect that eventually (and every few years or so) a combo item will allow ANY ingredient to be used as one of the pieces to make it, just to allow people to use those random old ingredients if they want.

Why? Ingredients have only had gold value thus far with the exception of the 4C. Seems sorta pointless to give them a requirement as a combo given that. Heck, might as well just give all ingredients a basecost of 20GP or something.

I'm sure they will have a use for something in the future.

I'm not so sure...<br /><br />I think the scroll of Purify Food and Drink really put a spotlight on how difficult making some of the combos could be.  <br /><br />Point is, making the combos is fun, and putting something in the ingredient list that is either too far back in time, or has been used and used and used year after year...(cough Thunder coff stone! coff cough!)  Might make the fun activity more tedious and cause some to do without.  <br /><br />I think a good strategy is to use the current year for most of the primary items needed with maybe one or two past items from the previous year set.  And keep ingredients either tied to the story arch or maybe even make them available from year to year...stranger stuff can be found in a dungeon afterall!<br />

I don't mean just for other combos, but for something different all together down the line.

So no super rare 5C combo that requires the 2006-2008/9 components?
