TOPIC: Hourglass of Imprisonment question

Hourglass of Imprisonment question 15 years 8 months ago #1

If you used the Hourglass of Imprisonment on the mindflayer would it have speeded up combat and allowed more people to move into melee quicker?

Kim

I think it would trap the mind flayer in the extra-dimensional space long enough for all party members to cross the bridge, so they could all engage in melee. That's what I would do if I was DMing that room.

It would also give your "stunned" members of the party a chance to shake it off before the fight began.
Legally... its questionable. Morally... its disgusting. Personally... I *like* it.

Thanks for the replies. I know people are complaining about it not being a great UR but that's an example of where it would really have helped. With the addition of the eighth ticketed person time is becoming the greatest enemy in the dungeon.

Kim

There is no doubt in my mind that the time limit is the greatest challenge. The thing about the hourglass of imprisonment is the consumability, but its pwoer certianly would come in handy.

The other question that comes to mind is if you trapped a monster in the hourglass would it be possible to kill the monster while it was in there?

Kim

I don't think so. The monster is imprisoned elsewhere.

Perhaps you could have dropped the hourglass into the bottomless chasm on either side of the narrow bridge. But then, there would nothing left to get parts from for next year's ingredients.

The chasm wasn't entirely bottomless. The Commandos bum-rushed the Mind Flayer and shoved it off the bridge... it then climbed back up a ladder. >.>

one small detail... as least you could get the ingredient parts after it got out and you ganged up on it. =D
