TOPIC: Token Trading at GenCon.

Token Trading at GenCon. 15 years 8 months ago #1

I am still not happy with how token trading worked this year at GenCon.

It seems there are two very seperate areas where very different types of trading goes on.

Inside the tavern there were the reserved tables (thank you Joyus and Bob) BUT the only people that came by were people leaving the dungeon. So anyone with another even to get to just ran by us. Also people who had only one run didn't have much interest either. It was a GREAT spot to "buy" tokens, I was able to purchase 3 purples and bunch of ingredients but there was not much action on the selling side.

Outside the Tavern was a much better place for finding people who were waiting for their adventure. These folks were more interested in buying Uncommon tokens and possibly a single red (with the Gem they had just found in their bag).

I wish we had a place where both types of players would pass, like the tavern was in '05 and '06.

The village at TD:DC might be what I am looking for.

George

There were definitely issues on this. Since the tavern is not always open to everyone, certain people had better access to new people leaving the dungeon with 2008 combo tokens and traded them out before the people even recognized their purpose in some cases. In my case, I watched people walk in and out of the tavern freely all day long, and then watched a few people later get turned away grumbling by a new tavern door bouncer. Consistency on this would help.

Duly noted, thanks for the feedback George! I honestly do not know what Jeff has in mind but I iwll entertain it as one of the many topics we need to discuss.

Dave
