Re: Great Job on Combo Tokens this year. 15 years 8 months ago #1

Dave did a great job on the Combo tokens at Gen Con. I had no idea the line would be so freaking big. It felt like 2003 all over again.

A big thanks to Dave and crew for making that aspect go well for everyone.

I think this whole token thing might have just cleared my wildest dreams. Thanks to Dave for making that happen.

I need to toss my kudo's in, too, for all the people who made the Combos this year an excellent experience.

Yes: there was a line, but it moved quickly, and everyone seemed happy with the result of their trip(s) though it. The people behind the desk, armed with their little token mats, did a super speedy job, and quickly identified the odd missing items which some of us (sigh) forgot to include when assembling combo bags at 3 am.

I would be happy to keep it like this again in future years!

That line was insane. I felt like a carnivore visiting a slaughter house. For around a hour afterwards, I wanted absolutely nothing to do with tokens.

The line looked much more imposing than it was. Even on the first evening when the line was longest, progress was rapid and the wait was minimal, even from the end.

From the front, it looked like a tsunami. I've never sorted tokens so fast in my entire life. It was worth it just for that afterglow when you've repelled the barbarian hoards and are just tiredly leaning against the counter shooting the breeze.

AGREED! Token making this year was great.

Sorry to have missed the line experience, but getting tokens via proxy turn in (due to working VOL shifts) was awesome!!!

Thanks Dave and Dave and Arty and anyone else who helped crank them out behind the counter.

By the way Arty - I think you made a great runner - and did you also Coach? Hope you make it back to slave work for us again!

It looked pretty impressive from the back too. I showed up a little late and thought I was going to be there till midnight.

I thought combo tokens went so much more smoothly this year. I didn't spend nearly as much time in line as I thought I would.

Kim

Combo token turn-in was a pleasure. I had heard nightmare stories about previous years, but I did both the first night and the Medallion of Greyhawk. I didn't wait more than about 5-10 minutes for either trade-in. And as far as I could tell, there was no running out of the combo items, which would have SUCKED.
