Was not required.

Yes we DM's made you sing.....

at least some of us did....and will continue to.......

Make up your mind.

was responding to what people had said....I know in 06 at the DM meeting it was said that we would make them sing...But by what people are saying not all DM's were doing that then or last year...
If it's not required then that needs to be made clear to the dms. I've watched dms tell people playing the bard that they had to sing in order for their party to get the bonus.

Kim

I for one was told I HAD to sing and when I said I thought it wasn't required, the DM insisted. Well, it's a good thing I majored in music but no one wanted to listen to the Sound of Music. Humph. :| ;/

I agree with Kim, it should be clarified.

Yes - I remember that room. You started off singing, but when you stopped, we stoppped getting the benefit (on purpose). I didn't think that was very cool of the DM.

If I get a vote, I'd vote for making them sing.
Well, then that would need to be updated in the player's guide.

Since the description of TD says flat out that it's not a LARP, it doesn't seem like singing should be required. It's a lot of fun for some gamers to get into their party role, be it the singing bard, the cleric shouting insults to the undead, or the wizard making hand gestures as he casts a spell. But none of that should be required. TD has enough cool parts to it to immerse the players without forcing a bard to role play in order to fulfill their party function while the rest of the party does not.

Now, if I had a cowbell...

How about a bronze farm bell? The kind that's about 6 inches across at the base and can be heard clearly by the farmer and his sons at the far end of the South 40 when dinner is ready?

Maybe I should bring that sucker and let our bard use it as her instrument.

*smiles evilly*

LOL... We'd never be allowed to use it. The entire ballroom would hear it. I love that thing. Good memories from when I was a kid at my grandparents' small farm. Being called in to dinner after a day of weeding row after row of vegetables.

Well, I play the bard, and my singing is just BAD!! I do it in the dungeon, but it's painful. To players and DMs alike. Although, I did really get our paladin last year. It was his B-day and he got my impression of Marilyn Monroe's "Happy Birthday"... :angel12:

I've considered bringing my digjeridoo for several years (even brought it along to Indy once, but had a malfunction with the beeswax mouthpiece and a hot car). This year, I'm thinking I may rig up my Zune and some tiny speakers. That would be an appropriate representation of an instrument that plays itself, right?
