TOPIC: Trade Items

Re: Trade Items 16 years 1 month ago #25
You know, for a while I wanted it to be a trade item for similar types of ingredients, so essentially a metal for metal thing. I think, though to keep things much simpler for me and hopefully for you, I will just say any token listed in the guide as a weapon or armor, of the respective rarity.

So any weapon even bone types and clubs, and any armor including shields and helms.

Greyhawk's army needs the supplies...

Dave

Dave,

If the above is the case, should you revise your Trade Items post? It shows a Small Shield as a Weapon, while the Large Shield is shown as armor. Based on what you just said, the Small Shield would be an armor, right? I just want to make sure I know which bucket to throw them into =)

Thanks,
Mike

I have the same question. Since right now I have more common weapons then armor by about a 4:1 margin I think putting the small shields with armor will help even things out a bit.

OK I'm sorting like mad...

I need the final word...are bows, slings and staves OK for a common weapon trade item?

Also is the Small Shield an ARMOR item?

Thnks,
G

I had an idea for an item for a future year.

A Pad of Paper and Pen.

Something to use up all the extra scrolls, ink, and ammunition (mostly thinking arrows and bow, but even sling bullets would count because we do have ball-point pens).

Perhaps something like 15 scrolls (any), 5 ink, and 5 ammo. I know my stack of comprehend languages could do with a thinning out.
Just my two Anti-toxins worth.
Greyseer

Yeah, maybe next year we can come up with a trade item for gear, so I can turn in some of my mortar & pestles!

I'm going to keep, however, the vessel with the pestle.

OK, so the Trade Item Post still doesn't list small shield in the armor section, so it cannot be traded in for minotaur hide, right?

If that is the case, I need 12 common armor tokens for a minotaur hide. I have some common weapons I can trade (I have enough of those for a dwarven steel token), plus plenty of other commons. Also willing to trade uncommons or even a rare (have to unload my extra +1 Great Clubs somewhere!).

Brian
Brian,
The trade Item post uses e.g. in the parenthetical, meaning “example” not i.e. meaning “the same as”. Please see the post at the bottom of the Trade Item thread http://truedungeon.com/trueforum/index.php?topic=3953.0 where it states:

Please note: For these trades, weapons do not include: arrows, bolts, bullets, Holy Water, and Alchemist’s fire

Also, I have been getting a few PMs from people seeking clarification, wanting to know if slings, bows, and staves will be allowed in the trade. I originally had it in my mind that I wanted to make a token specifically for bows and staves, Jeff convinced me otherwise. After some consideration I am starting to see the benefit of having the trades just be simply common and uncommon armor and weapons.

So after I move the projectiles from the weapons section of the token guide (version 7.0) The rule of thumb will be that what ever is in the weapons and armor sections of the guide will be allowed in trade for the new Trade Items.

Dave

This means that armor includes shields and helms and weapons include slings, bows, staves, maces and clubs.

Thanks for the clarification, Dave. That means I only need about 5 common armor tokens, and might even be able to make another dwarven steel token. I don't think I'm close for either an elvish bismuth or an oil of enchantment.
Brian,

GREAT, now I don't feel so bad...I too needed several e-mails to straighten out what was being said.

Your brain and mine must work on the same wavelength.

G
