TOPIC: What Tokens must be shown.

Re: What Tokens must be shown. 16 years 1 month ago #13

It looks great. I was working on a similar arrangement using leather. I think it will work well. I like the ones I made last year, but they are labor intensive. And they don't look like medieval garb whereas a sash could look very cool. Remember to keep weapons out so you can easily gain access to them.

Do you have a photo?
Looks pretty nice to me...

Bias tape - my friend! NOT!!!

Out of curiosity - how wide is it?

And did you consider making the rows in line with the edges - but turning the tokens to face straight?

G

It's 6 inches wide. It's a pain to make the rows parallel to the floor, if you get what I mean. If they were either parallel or perpendicular to the edges, it would be easier, but I would think it'd be more likely the tokens would fall out. You would also be able to cram in more token spots per square inch.

Darkrose: with the flannel backing it shouldn't slide around too much, unless you go shirtless or wear something slinky.

No photo yet for the coming year, but you can actually see last years around my neck if you go to my website www.brazenserpentchronicles.com/theauthorsites.html

Scroll down to GenCon 2007 were there are some pictures of Team Token pictures. You can see mine on the right and in the second picture you can see my wife's (she is in red).

Are you using the plastic for clear 'windows'? The leather will be wonderful, but it's such a pain to work with, unless you've got something thin and light. Snakeskin, anyone?

I am thinking about having a sash (like the Scout MB sash), but I am wavering between using plastic like you have done (which is a pain). That is what I did last year. I used the plastic sheets for the binders. I am thinking this year of attaching the cool individual token cases to the sash. Don't know quite yet. I have a lot of experiementing to do yet.

That plastic was actually not bad. It came on a roll at the fabric store, and would be used normally as a cover for a nicer tablecloth to keep spilled koolaid off. I just treated it like normal fabric and sewed it on with my machine.

I like the abbreviated version I saw on some of the people on the team token run - instead of a sash that runs shoulder to hip, more of a wide collar to slip on over your head.

BTW, that leather armor you're wearing in one of those pics is awesome!
Verrrry pretty.
Have you checked if the tokens stay in place when you are crawling, or leaning over? I know that if it was me, I'd lean down to pick something up, and they'd all fall out upside-down, if I didn't have some way to keep them in place.

I guess you can sew in a small bit of Velcro (or perhaps stick on and / or sew hook and loop tape) at the top.

Since I don't have a sewing machine and I hate sewing by hand... the real questions are...

How much are you going to charge for those lovely sashes?
Are you willing to embroider names/words on the sashes?
Are you willing to even make them for cash? :-)
