What Tokens must be shown. 16 years 1 month ago #1

So the quest continues on the best way to show what is required to be shown.
So here is my question:
What is required to be visible at all times on a Player?
Last year we learned that basic armor (like chainmail) only had to be shown in the tavern, but we had to put the gauntlets, rings, and cloak in our badge holder. In essence any worn gear that did more than add to AC had to be in your badge holder.

As our team increases the number of tokens from a handful that could have been easily held in a badge holder to nearly a 10+/player, my question is what must be visible at all times? Some items that cross boundaries are things like the Helm of Clear thought, adds to AC and a conditional bonus to will saves.

Will judges now document saves and hit bonuses on the Players card so we dont have to have so many tokens visible? Or is that the price those with many tokens must pay, the challenge of how to best show what you need?

Thanks,
Greyseer

What about using poker ship storage tubes to contain worn items? Put a True Dungeon sticker on the lid.

Or what about a bag embroidered "Worn Items?”

Because last year they said certain tokens must be visible at all times (ie Boots of Free Action) so putting them in a bag out of sight was not allowed. Armor only items we were allowed to put back in a pocket (just in case we wanted to upgrade in the dungeon).

The only things last year were the two rings you were wearing (or three + the hand of glory) at the time you enter the room.

Armor and STR/DEX bonus items could be put away.

You are right - things like BOOTS could be called for by the DM at any time - so what you are wearing should be somewhere accessible and organized...

The rings were the only item on display - usually in a badge holder.

This was encouraged to help along the honor system.

Picture someone saying to the DM - but I have my FIRE RES ring on - here it is - out of a pocket with 10 different rings in it.

I'd like to see a return of those tri-folded carriers that we wore around our necks. They're a bit on the fragile side, but I still have two that are functional. I'll be using one this coming year.

How about a Boy Scout merit badge sash with clear plastic (like a clear raincoat) pockets sewn over it? One pocket for each token. Cut clear plastic in strips, and sew left, right, and bottom leaving the top as a receptacle to display your worn tokens. I bet you can fit three in a row, just like a merit badge. I know next to squat about sewing, but I bet sewing in some tokens to get a good feel of the size of the clear plastic strips would help.

About a third down the page you can see an image of one.

www.infinetivity.com/~blkeagle/boyscout.htm

Also Lt. Warf from Star Track had one, but he was in the Klingon Scouts, and they are not affiliates with the Boy Scouts of America.

www.grudge-match.com/Images/worf.jpg

I can look for my sash, but I think it’s at my folk’s house. At any rate I bet some of you sewing folks can make one.
I've just accumulated so many badge holders over the years that I just wore two around my neck in the dungeon doubling my capacity to display tokens.

The fabric worked out nice - it's a fake suede with a flannel type backing. I wouldn't do the bias binding on the edge again, though, so the fake suede and flannel backing should maybe be two separate pieces, so I can sew and turn the edges.

I do think you'd want the bias binding on the top of the plastic - keeps the tokens more secure, and will make that edge more durable.

You could easily do another couple of rows of tokens. Any comments?

binia
Looks pretty nice to me...

Bias tape - my friend! NOT!!!

Out of curiosity - how wide is it?

And did you consider making the rows in line with the edges - but turning the tokens to face straight?

G

Wow! Nice work Binia! Do you think it will stay in place when you put it on, or do you think you need to counterbalance the back with more tokens?
