TOPIC: Dimensions of the Tokens

Dimensions of the Tokens 16 years 1 month ago #1

I hate to ask this, but since I am on the road and not near my beloved tokens, how thick are tokens (the chippies). I know they are 40mm across, but how thick are they?

I had an interesting discussion with a team mate the other night about how to best transport tokens while in TD, and while I have been persuing the necklace approach (using the air-tite token holders) he mentioned just getting a nice sized rigid comic book holder and putting the tokens in and taping it closed. Put a couple holes in the corner and wear it like an oversized badge holder.

The trick is the carrier must hold at least 12+ tokens and have them clearly visible.
So 3x4 tokens = 120mm x160mm = 4.72 inches x 6.29inches ~ 5x7 - sounds like a photo size.
So I swing by BCWSupplies - makers of fine toploaders (I use them for D&D Minis map holders)
And find: http://www.bcwsupplies.com/prod-TLCH-5X7.htm , but I notice the inside thickness is 1/32" so its about as thick as a piece of paper :(
But knowing that I wasn't using the full width and depth, and putting a small amount of flex into the equation I think it might work.
I am also looking at the2buds.com as they have a large selection and great looking prices (cheaper than BCW).

So thanks in advance for the answer to the thickness question.
Greyseer

This strategy has been done fairly closely - Widseth and a couple others have made a neck worn token page display Tote - that holds 24 tokens (12 front / 12 back) or 16 front and 16 back...these use token sheets like the ones TD sells.

Anyhoo - do your own experimentation and remember using token pages is fairly limited as far as in and out use...you pretty much need to secure the tops of these top loaders pretty good.

Not if I follow closely behind with my handi-vac. Always happy to gather up stray tokens! I'll even try and restrain myself from holding people upside down and shaking them!
Just a quick followup on test case #3 (since clearly binias solution has the best potential).
I received the 5x7 holders, and tried to load them. The biggest problem is since the depth of the sleeve does not equal the thickness of a token the middle bowed out and the next thing you knew all your tokens were shuffled at the bottom.
So do not try this route and save your money for the sash when and if they go on sale
Greyseer
