TOPIC: Gloves of Dex and Slide Spells

While I would like to agree with JesterSB that the Ring of Wizardry is more important, I don't have one, so I am going to reask the question, for the gloves, and encourage JeseterSB to post his own thread about the Ring of Wizardry, as I do think the question does deserve its own discussion.<br /><br />Do Gloves of Dex and their +1 to hit with ranged attacks, apply to spells AND/OR Scrolls that require a slide?<br />Can the Gloves stack with the Ring of Wizardry?<br />

We need to get a ruling on each sliding spell to see if it is considered melee, ranged, or neither.  <br /><br />I would figure that Dexterity would help for ranged attack spells, and Strength would help with melee attack spells.<br />

It'll all be in the guide whenever the guide comes out. It's unlikely that anything rules related will be resolved until then.

My guess would be that the bonus from Gloves of Dex only gets applied to weapon slides - since dex does not affect spellcasting.    But I'm curious to see what the official ruling is.

<br /><br />Dexterity affects ranged touch attacks, and Strength affects melee touch attacks.  Then again touch attacks ignore most forms of armor.  I think, anyhow (does this look right)?

If we're wagering here....I'll put 50 gp down on gloves of dex affecting ranged touch attacks (aka ray's) and strength not affecting melee touch attacks.

? ? ?  I always counted that only as with things like holy water or oil, but not spells... I never play spellcasters, so it didn't matter much to me.

We're all just guessing in the end. It's not like 3rd edition rules have ever really applied 100%.
