OK I'm not looking to get hazed here or anything...but doesn't it make sense for potions with drawbacks to have a consistent 1 room effect?

I mean the obvious loophole people are going to exploit on any potion with a drawback is you drink it after a fight and before you go into the next room - well DUH - that is when most "non-critical healing" takes place...so why not change the in game rules to over-write certain tokens and say that things like ORC STOUT will take effect in the next room - OR if it quaffed in the middle of a fight - fine it takes effect during the fight...make the language on the token sting just a little...

Anyway - just a thought.

Not hard to mark a D on someone's card or use the honor system to have them add a marker on the A or B on the HP tracker...

NEXT!

It makes no difference to me when I slide a 19 or 20 all the time anyway. If you go that route why not make it last until the end of the next room if the potion is quaffed in a puzzle solving room also.

like you said...critical healing...these potions are not ones you would drink in the middle of a battle. you would drink the "better" potion of cure light wounds if you still had fighting to do.

That's my plan. Eat, and drink the "lesser" healing before I go into the next room.

What would be funny is if your group just survived a tough battle and it "appeared" you were done with that room. So everyone is eating their Orcish Rations and drinking their Orcish Stout and Dwarven Ale. Suddenly you get attacked "in the same room". Oops.

Probably would never work because a) tabulating the effects of all the potions would take a while and b) it's usually pretty obvious when you're done with a room. Still, it might at least make people think more about when they can take which potions. As it is, the drawbacks on some of these items currently are kind of meaningless.

If you are playing the combat class those people would not stop fighting regardless until the battle was over. The belt will help with that this year. For those not using the belt give notice to the cleric, druid, bard if there to do the healing while the combat classes are fighting. Battle will be over very soon. Everybody Happy! Potions will be consumed shortly after the celebration is done. Where's the treasure box?
