I'll reiterate with it's just not worthwhile. We've hashed this particular chestnut quite a few times by actually doing the math and after a while, there's just not a lot to say anymore. 2 points of dex just isn't worth the 2 points of strength because of the inherent weakness of AC vs hit/dam at the level we're talking about. Gauntlets and then belt + bull strength is fine for most melee classes, with the exception of a barb. Gloves with belt and cat's grace would be good for a wizard.

The idea of a reflex save bonus is interesting, but even then, you'd be better off with gauntlets and drinking cat's grace because it'll be a conditional sort of thing.

Well if the lowley Cleric is +3 to hit with Ranged...think about what the Rogue or Monk could do...

But alas - I am a fairly inconsistent slider - so the +to hit is more valuable than my + to damage...

Those that slide 20s on command for sure want the + damage...I on the other hand travel the path of the subpar-slider-holics.

I like the gloves because the picture is cool.
I can afford to equip a token just "because it's cool" if I want to.

I also run with a group who tends to finish off a creature within one or two rounds (often before it ever gets a chance to strike at us, if we get initiative) so the question of damage vs. AC is sorta moot.

Maybe Nightmare will change that.
OK so I think this will be my line up for GenCon INDY 2008!

Dragon Shield
Full Plate +1
Dragon Helm

You won't give up the extra point of AC to round out the Dragonscale grouping? Then you can leave your potions of fire resistance at home. Although, you do have the perfect way to carry loads of tokens around, right? :icon_thumright:

Not until I know the bonus of wearing all three...if it is more than -5 fire damage then I might have to consider 1 point of AC for -3 fire dam.

And as far as a POT of fire res...heck I would just slip on a ring if it came to that.
