How come hardly anyone equips Gloves of Dexterity?

Because so many use the Gauntlets of Ogre Power.

I equip them...it's the most useful for the Ranger and Rogue...and maybe Mage if he likes ranged touch attacks.  All other melee classes would rather have the bonus strength from the ogre power as it adds to hit and damage.

With the Belt of Retrieval - I can see folks going with Gloves of Dex...<br /><br />Confused...??<br /><br />I'll post my run-down tonight when I get home (IF I remember...)

Because they're teh suXXOrs. AC is up to 30+ at this point for the various tank classes and in the mid 20's for most of the rest. At that point, you just don't need that extra point of AC. The only possible exception might be for monks or wizards.<br /><br />Besides, dexterity only adds a 'to-hit' bonus for ranged. Useless for the monk, which means the only person who should really be wearing the gloves of dex is the wizard. Very few people play wizard compared ot the whole of TD, thus, almost no one wears them.

I wear them as a Bard because of the AC bonus, since most of the time I am strumming and helping others hit.  When I do go on offense, it is usually with a spell or bow using bracers of archery.  It will be a difficult decision this year with Widseth's Lute where I can mix it up on the combat board more.  I could see the combination of gauntlets (versus gloves) and belt of giant strength, using bracers of defense with cat's grace and bull strength as a lethal combination for the bard if he has the new lute.  If not then gloves of dex give him a measure of security as he/she stands there singing.<br /><br />Widseth

Dex just isn't worth it unless you're sub-20 AC, and even then it's arguable. 2 points of Dex only applies 5% of the time after all when it comes to preventing you from being hit. 2 points of strength apply every time when you attack.

OK so I think this will be my line up for GenCon INDY 2008!<br /><br />Gearon Mace +2<br />Dragon Shield<br />Sling using Sling Bullets Impact OR toss a Thunderstone<br />Full Plate +1<br />Horn of Plenty<br />Bracers +2<br />Gloves of Dex<br />Ring of Reflexes<br />Ring of Fortitude<br />Cloak +2<br />Belt of Retrieval<br />Boots of Free Action - or Leopard ? ?<br />Dragon Helm<br /><br />IOUNS FA, IS, LE, <br />Spider Silk Shirt<br /><br />AC 27 Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +8.<br /><br />MELEE = +2 to hit with Mace (lost +2 to hit and +2 damage - no Gauntlets and no Girdle but I get this back - below)<br /><br />RANGED = +1 to hit - Sling or Thunderstone = Sling is +2 damage<br /><br />POTIONS - drink either a CATS GRACE or BULLS STR as free action before any combat...either +2 to hit and +2 Damage with melee weapon OR +2 to hit +2 additional AC and +2 REF Saves! <br /><br />Does not count Bless or Bard Song!<br /><br />So it costs me a potion but I get +1 to hit Ranged, +1 AC and +1 REF saves!  PLUS I can PUMP for Ranged and get 2 more points of AC and +2 additional REF save points.<br /><br />There it be - comments or critics welcome.
